This appears to be a Hobbs. Brockunier& Co. Fourth quarter 19th century piece. It is in very good condition. The pewter lid and pitcher have very few scratches or marks. The neck of the pitcher has a couple of small lines created during the manufacturing process. The pitcher is at 6.5 inches tall and 4 inches wide. Please see the pictures for details. Antique 1890's Hobbs Brockunier Blue Hobnail Glass Pitcher
I think this was probably mad by Hobbs. The pitcher is in good condition with no chips or cracks. It does have one place about 1 inch long where the glass ran during the making. This is 8 inches tall and 7 inches wide. I currently have over 100 items listed on ebay so check out my other auctions for more interesting items. Amberina Hobbs Brockunier New England Phoenix Glass Victorian Swirl Art Glass
I just purchased this late 19th century Amberina art glass pitcher from a local estate here in Central Virginia. I was informed this pitcher is characteristic of the Amberina designs produced by Phoenix Glass(Monaca. PA) in the 1880's. Similar wares were done at Hobbs, Brockunier& Co. as part of their Ruby Amber line and New England Glass Co. The mold blown pitcher has a striking design with embossed rib detail swirling up the exterior of the body. The piece shows rich color shading from ruby/ cranberry at the top rim to amber at the base. The applied handle, also done in amber, shows fine rib detail with clean attachments(no heat checks or firing lines) The piece measures 7 ½” high at the handle, 7” high at the quatrefoil rim, 8” from spout to handle and 6” in diameter. It is a water pitcher and the pattern is known as dewdrop although quite often referred to as hobnail. It is also known as pattern#323. It measures about 7 1/8 inches tall and is 7 1/2 inches in diameter at the bulge to the outside arch of the handle. The pitcher has a blue frosted matte finish. There is an all over(dewdrop) hobnail design that goes all the way to the top lip. The hobnails are smoother and more rounded at the top of the pitcher and become very large and pointy towards the bottom half. The pitcher has a square or four cornered lip and a frosted smooth applied handle. The pitcher is in excellent + condition as there are no cracks or chips. The piece is unsigned however ... moreit is guaranteed to be original. It has a nice ground polished pontil which is one of the signs of a quality piece of art glass.
