The mouth is 3 3/8 by 3 5/8 inches. The pitcher is in the thumbprint or coin dot pattern. It is hand blown and has a ground pontil. It dates to the late 19 th century. Up for auction tonight is this Lovely Antique Victorian Hand Blown Pitcher which is also Vaseline Glass. The pitcher stands 9" tall and has a very nice polished pontil. The top has a ruffled lip. And the handle is Uranium Blue, which as you can see by the photos, also glows yellow green under the Black Light. The pattern is Inverted Thumbprint, and the entire piece is not clear glass it has a gold yellow tint, just like Uranium Glass. No chips, nicks, cracks, or haze inside or out. Just Pristine. This is a beautiful Cranberry Lemonade Set. Which is in excellent condition. There are no large chips to any of the glasses, only a very small flake on the outside rim of one of the glasses, which you really have to look for. The pitcher measures about 9" in height, 6" in width, and 4" at the base of the pitcher, and is in perfect condition. It has an applied ribbed handle, and inverted coin dots on each piece of the set. A nice set I think it is American but it could have been blown in Europe. In good condition no chips or cracks it has some gilt missing but most of the floral decoration is still there. The four sided top pitcher is nine inches tall and four inches across the top. The three tumblers are three and a half inches tall.

Cranberry glass(or gold ruby glass as it was called) is a red glass made by adding gold oxide to molten glass. Sometimes they added"tin" in the form of stannous chloride in very small amounts as a reducing agent. In Europe. It was called"ruby glass" or Rubion Oro was made by a number makers depending on the era of the item. The"gold" was added as gold chloride and made by dissolving gold in a solution of nitric acid and hydrochloric acid(aqua regina) The glass was typically hand blown or molded. The origins of the glass are buried in history. Some believe the Romans began"Cranberry Glass" in the 17th century it was Johann Kunckel(Potsdam) or Antonio Neri(Florentine) that re-discovered the process. It was not until 1925 when Richard Zsigmondy was able to explain the process and the reason for the"ruby" ... morecolor. A beautiful and unusual example of New England Amberina glass that dates to around the 1880s. It is in excellent structural condition and features an elongated. Applied handle in a greenish color, with overall thumbprint pattern and with white enameled holly leaves and berries attached to a branch. The enamel work encircles about two-thirds of the body of the pitcher. There is some wear to the gilding on the tri-corner top. The total height to the top of the handle is 9 ¾” 7 ½” to the top lip of the pitcher body, about 5 3/8” body diameter and the weight is about 2 lbs. A nice.
