VINTAGE AND RARE MARY GREGORY GREEN HAND-BLOWN GLASS PITCHER
I am excited to offer this beautiful. Very early Made Mary Gregory Pitcher. It is hand blown and hand painted. The style of the painting and the colored green glass is known as the earlier European style of Mary Gregory glass. The pitcher is 10" high and 3 1/4 in wide on the top with the base about 5 in. width. There are no chips or cracks that I can find. There is however, a mark across the bottom that looks like a crack but I believe it is the pontil trailing off the center where the blown glass ended. I can feel no crack inside or out. I am selling this as a very old glass item that has been in my family for over 45 years as I could not find any other examples online. Email reads- H ave studied the pictures and have the following observations to share. First off. I don't think this is a cruet. I would sooner describe it as a small pitcher, probably milk or cream. Cruets tend to have longer skinnier necks. Further I don't believe it was a US manufactured crackle glass item that was commonly made from ... morethe 30's to the late 60's or so. It's too crude and the glass is too thick to be a commercially made piece by the likes of Pilgrim or Rainbows, the most common manufactures of crackle glass during the afore mentioned period. And the pontil is pretty crude also as is the shape of the applied handle. Most commercial crackle glass was much thinner glass and more artfully rendered shapes on the necks, lips and handles. So my guess is that it's probably mid 18th to early 19th century European made in a small guild shop by an apprentice glass blower. Inside you have 3 small brown spotted area's that probably will come off after a good long soaking session with Dawn detergent. It has a large spout and thick glass handle. This stands 9" tall and is 5" wide. It has the awesome bubbles typical for a piece like this. It is a heavy. Sturdy weight. There is a pontil mark on the bottom. no dings. No chips, no cracks, no repairs to this pitcher. The only issue is the 3/4" piece of the branch being pointed out in our photo. I acquired 2 pitchers that are hand blown and have lovely enameling. They were made. From research, in the late 1800's to very early 1900's. Will be packaged a box in a box for protection. Glass is much thinner. look at the handle on this! Coloring is still great. Must have been out of the light and shown off in a china cabinet. there is about 1/2 of water residue inside the spout-hard to see with the color. They may have had flowers or water in it at one time. gold around lip,drapes and streaks in the middle and leaf design on the bottom. This is an Antique Mary Gregory Emerald Green Pitcher. The pitcher is hand blown glass with a column effect and a pontil. The painting depicts a woman picking flowers. There is some writing on the back of the pitcher in gold. It is very faint. The pitcher does retain some of the gold highlighting the rim. The pitcher is 6 ¼” tall and 3 ½” in diameter. The piece is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks, or flea bites. There is a tiny amount of paint loss on the woman’s shoe(see picture) The pitcher was acquired from an Antique Estate Auction.

This auction is for an antique hand blown pitcher. This is an estate item. And the woman to whom this belonged had a large collection of fine 19th century wares. I am certain this is not a new piece, but I can't provide a precise age. This piece is approximately 4 3/4" tall with a 5" diameter.
