Old UNIQUE Tankard Syrup Pitcher Cream pitcher milk pitcher ??? with glass lid
From an estate. This is a wonderful old(whatsit! that may be a syrup pitcher, a cream/milk pitcher, or a tankard. I have NOT seen any lid attached like this before, and could not find anything even similar on the internet or in any of my glass books. It is about 6 1/4" tall and base is about 3 3/4" in diameter. The base is"pushed up" from the bottom about 1" and is slightly flared at the base. The lid lifts off. It rests on a round bar at the back of the pitcher and has a round indent in the back of the lid that fits down onto the bar. It has a LOT OF WEAR TO THE BASE rim which tells me this is an old piece. It has a few scratches(see photo of largest) And I see a bubble in the glass; there are a few tiny flakes off the finger-hold that is on the lid. Overall it is in good condition for its age. Antique Victorian period opaque milk glass pitcher with painted floral design. Possibly"bleeding hearts" The lid is made of pewter and marked on the inside of the lid"Pat. July 15, 84" The pitcher is in very nice condition with no chips or cracks with the exception of the perimeter of the top where the lid fits on. I believe the chipping there was done in an effort to place the lid before glueing. The chips are consistently the same.The lid is removable with traces of old glue, probably original. On the inside of the lid is"PAT JUL 16 72" There is no maker's mark on this item. The condition of this antique is excellent with a couple minor imperfections. The glass has no cracks or breaks. The glass is in very good condition with the decoration still intact and no chips or cracks. The original metal thumb lever flip up lid is present and functioning but has wear and moderate rusting from age. I did not try and clean it. Great old piece!

Wonderful old Opaque Milk Glass Syrup Pitcher with a Pewter Top. This piece is marked inside the spring loaded lid with teh initials O.K. or D.K. and the Pat Date Jan 29.84. Yes, that is 1884! In excellent condition for being 130 years old! I took a small piece of steel wool to clean off the date mark so it could be seen better in the photos. I am certain that with s slight bit more TLC this pewter could look just about new again. The glass body is in excellent condition also. but the hand painted flowers around the body of the glass are 75% worn off. I would have to assume that green vines and golden stamen had flower petals surrounding that in the beginning. It stands 7 1/2" tall about 4" wide at the bulbous base.
