It is decorated with engraved flowers and leaves with an engraved presentation to W.G Hawkins Sunnyside Manor Road Stourport. It dates from the 19th Century and measures approximately 8 + 3/8 inches tall by 5 inches across the bottom. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Heres a really unique antique pitcher made of"Blue" milk glass.The pitcher has a ground glass upper lip and a hand applied handle as well as a hand applied decorative collar.The only mark is a embossed"2" on the base. The pitcher measures 6-1/2" tall by 4" wide at the widest point of the base.Top opening is 2" across with a pouring spout. American Historical Glass A Large Antique EAPG Water Pitcher c.1880's Garfield Drape Pattern_ DESCRIPTION A fine piece of antique historical pattern glass. T he pattern name is GARFIELD DRAPE in memory of the twentieth President of the United States. James Abram Garfield who was shot by an assassin on July 2, 1881 and died eleven weeks later, less than 4 months into his presidency. Known as the last of the LOG CABIN Presidents, Garfield came from humble roots and rose to the highest office in our country. This pattern with it's beautiful triple beaded swags and flowers on a stippled background has an understated simplicity. It was produced by Adams& Company of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania from the 1870's through the late 1880's. Many folks believe this pattern to have been known by another name(Festoon) prior to Garfields death ... morein 1881. The Adams company changed the name to link it to the memorial plate made by them in the same pattern to commemorate President Garfield death. Many different serving pieces were produced in this pattern. Some have become exceedingly collectible, and consequently difficult to find. These gorgeous bulbous form large and heavy 64 ounce water pitchers with applied handles are one of the most sought after items. The high standard cake stand and covered compote are also costly, rare and desirable. Of superior quality. This is crystal clear glass and in pristine condition. The applied tooled handle is fabulous. It has the chevron mark at the top and attaches at the bottom directly over the top of one of the three mold lines. Those mold lines occur just below the waist of the pitcher. And are decorated with tiny leaves and flowers. The decoration under and immediately alongside of the handle is not pronounced due to the application of the hot glass melting the raised decoration. Early European Pontiled Applied Handle Milk Cream Pitcher Hand Blown Green Glass
Gently used super old green glass pitcher or cruet with applied handle and pontiled bottom. Measures approx. 4 1/2" tall. 3" round at base, and 2" round at top. Weighs 7.8 ounces. I am selling this as a very old glass item that has been in my family for over 45 years as I could not find any other examples online. I did email a friend who sent my pictures to a friend of his who has some knowledge on vintage glass. Below is his reply but again I am selling this a old original glass item. Email reads- H ave studied the pictures and have the following observations to share. First off. I don't think this is a cruet. I would sooner describe it as a small pitcher, probably milk or cream. Cruets tend to have longer skinnier necks. Further I don't believe it was a US manufactured crackle glass item that was commonly made from ... morethe 30's to the late 60's or so. It's too crude and the glass is too thick to be a commercially made piece by the likes of Pilgrim or Rainbows, the most common manufactures of crackle glass during the afore mentioned period. And the pontil is pretty crude also as is the shape of the applied handle. Most commercial crackle glass was much thinner glass and more artfully rendered shapes on the necks, lips and handles. So my guess is that it's probably mid 18th to early 19th century European made in a small guild shop by an apprentice glass blower. The glass is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There is some fading of the painted flowers. The hinged pewter lid has an inside pouring spout. The hinge works. But a small part of the hinge has broken making the lid a little wobbly when opened. As a result, the spring mechanism in the hinge no longer works. From an estate auction it appears the previous owner applied some sort of tape around the interior of the lid. 18TH CENTURY ETCHED GLASS BEDSIDE WATER CARAFE & TUMBLER - APPLIED HANDLE - EXC
The antique dealer from whom I purchased this beautiful bedside water set told me that it is from the 18th century and was pulled out of an old estate. I only have his word on that but I can say that it seems of high quality and is quite beautiful. It is etched with a floral design and leaves and there are also very fine etched vertical lines on both the carafe and tumbler. It has an applied handle. The tumbler is footed and fits inside the top of the carafe with the foot of the tumbler making a lid to the carafe. It measures about 7 inches tall and flares at the bottom. The tumbler is 3 1/4 inches tall. I really have not found any major flaw with this old set. The glass is nice and shiny. You may find a tiny scratch but hardly worth mentioning considering the age.
