One plate is marked on the back rim with the distinctive mark of Jonas Durand who worked out of London from 1732 to 1775. The second plate has a worn impressed mark in the center of the back. This plate was purchased on Charles Street in Boston on May 22, 1967. The first plate with the maker's mark, that mark can be found in Cotterrell mark# 1475. Rare Vintage Keen Kutter Oak& Etched Glass Display Case-Antique Knife-Mirror Fantastic Keen Kutter display case with etched glass front. This etched glass is an anomaly. I have done my research. And can’t find anything that refers to Keen Kutter using the“Kutlery” spelling. I am no expert and maybe someone else has some information on this case. The wood case has minor wear and tear like scuffs and scratches, but looks pretty good for its age, and is strong and intact. It has two sliding wood doors that have mirrored sides inside the case. The doors work and slide well. The case is velvet covered on the inside, and is formed to the contours of the display sections. The velvet is worn away in areas, and stained in sections. There are two wooden drawers that slide in underneath. They are sectioned and have great pull knobs. The top glass ... moreis missing, and the two side glass pieces are broken. Despite this, the case is very strong and stable. I believe the case will travel very well. It appears that the glass could be replaced easily, and has previously been held in with wood strips. Offering a magnificent and rare antique wall mirror. I think this style is called tabernacle: it's beautifully molded with old gilded embellishments and gilding throughout. The central piece is actually an oil on canvas and may predate the mirror by a large amount of time. It's a pastoral scene. Mountains, trees, a small manse with a tower and cows in the field. Quite a lovely painting with some warping, craquelure and a small chip(see photos) The front is painted an old creamy yellow(more ivory) The mirror looks original and remains in fine shape. The back isn't so pretty but is stable and has the benefit of a bit of beautiful deco paper remaining as a backing. Simple wire hanger. A VERY RARE Find! One of a kind! This Miniature Antique Mirror depicts a maple leaf in the bottom corner. That tells this is a drawing of the 1st snowfall, and snowball fight, around the turn of the century between the late 1800's to the early 1900's. It is ink etched on canvas applied to tin. It is VERY Intricately detailed, especially for its size, measuring Only 2" tall X 3" wide! It's basically in black and white. The mirror itself has some rust, and normal rust spots here and there, and normal wear from age. This is a very old mirror, and am selling as is! The back of the mirror where the scenery is has some normal wear on the upper right edge and the bottom left corner, and it wraps around the mirror. Very nice condition. One small spot on the finish on the wood tray is worn. You can see it in the picture. The mirror shows age. Not chipped or cracked. You can see faint blotches that are typical of old mirrors but does not affect looking in it or the appearance.Most of what you see in the mirror is reflection. I believe the base is oak but my husband is away and he usually confirms for me. I know its a hard wood. Not pine. It has a nice brown finish. The Mirror is beveled. It stand just under 12" tall and wide. There is a place to put you cuff links.Tie clips ect. It looks like a Men's Vanity mirror but It looks beautiful on any dresser, even a woman's. You are sighing with delight at the sight of this extremely early celluloid vanity easel mirror. The back reads Pat Jul 9 1895. And a stamp above it reads Celluloid Patented Feb 5 1878. The mirror has a wide bevel, telltale of its age. The mirror is loose and could use solid attachment. The celluloid frame measure 8 inches wide, 9 inches tall. Up for auction is this exceptional 19C Walnut and gesso mirror. This is truly a rare find. Mirror measures a large 56 5/8" l x 33 3/8" h x 2" d. It has a three panel wood back. We put a sturdy wire across the back to hang. Of course. This mirror could be mounted either vertical or horizontal. Just an exquisite design with oak leaves and acorns. A stately work of art. Beautiful attention to delicate detail. A rich appearance while being understated. So many large mirrors I have found are either too plain or tend to be- well- a bit garish! This is a nice balance of beauty and great workmanship. As it dates to the 19C, it is not perfect and should not be. There is some cracking in the gesso and a little professional restoration during its lifetime, so please look at the pictures carefully. This is a very rare mis 19th century antique silver-plated vanity fob set including a compact box. A vanity mirror, and a trinket box. it is a very ornate set with extremely intricate detailing and nice patina from age. All pieces are connected to beautiful circle linked chains which all connect to a silver-plated ring. The vanity mirror slides open to expose the hidden beveled mirror inside and shuts closed. the face cover of the mirror is of very ornate flowers and a detailed dragon wrapping the edge, they are done in very high relief. the compact box is in the shape of a shell and beautifully ribbed. The box opens and closes on a hinge and snaps tightly. inside is a beautiful silk. We are pleased to offer this very rare. Exceptional piece. This offering features a 1950s Spanish Giltwood frame large wall mirror with attached gilt tole lighted wall sconce. This incredible mirror/sconce is marked with the Ferracolor, Made in Spain, metal tag which is still attached to the sconce. This is an exceptionally rare and beautiful piece. The mirror is large and the giltwood frame is quite ornate. It features an intricately carved wood frame with Neoclassical design. It is accented with acanthus leaf scrolls, curved lines and a carved shell in the center bottom. The large, 3 light tole sconce features wheat leaves with acanthus leaf accents found under each lighted arm of the sconce. All are gold gilt and are in exceptional condition. There is expected aging to the tole sconce in just a couple of areas, but overall it still maintains ... moreits beautiful and original gold finish. The mirror frame is in immaculate condition for its age. It shows only minor aging in just a few spots but nothing that is easy to see except upon very close inspection. The mirror has some aging at the top in the form of a cloudy, lightly spotted appearance(see pictures 9& 10) Again, this does not stand out much except with close inspection. Otherwise, very good to excellent condition. The sconce is attached. Through the mirror with screws. It has been given the ability for the sconce to move a little for adjustment. The power cord features an on/off switch. It is vintage, but in good condition and the sconce is working perfectly. I have pictured with only one lighted bulb as 3 makes it a little too bright to photograph well. The mirror frame measures 38.5" wide and 34.5" tall. The sconce is 34.5" wide and measures 6" tall at the tallest leafed section and 7.5" tall at the center arm. Ferracolor pieces are exceptional in quality and extremely hard to find. Rare Antique Early 19th Century Mahogany Wall Mirror Carve Wood Brass Hardware. We are listing a very special early 19th century wall mirror in excellent condition. This mirror represents the best of the early craftsmanship of cabinetmakers long gone. This was from our personal collection the we have enjoyed for the last 50 years. We are downsizing and this is one of the pieces that has to go. It was refinished when we first acquired it and has been hanging with pride in our home all these years. The top crown of the mirror is decorated with tiny acorns all across the front. There are 21 of the tiny acorns, two are missing. Most of the framework on the mirror is made of mahogany and decorated with some cherrywood. The bottom mirror is original and has some tiny black wear spots. The top mirror has been replaced a long time ago, the five brass ... moremedallions are located on the edges and center top of the mirror. The top board of the crown was cracked and reglued when we got it, we have never done anything else with the crack and is still exposed, you can see it from the top only. There are a couple square handmade nails original, holding the crown to the frame. The patina on the back of the mirror is original and the color is to die for! The original hand chafed wood boards covering the mirrors are still on the frame. The size of the mirror frame is 39 inches tall, by 23 inches wide at the top, by 19 1/2 inches wide at the bottom. The top mirror is 8 1/2 X11!2" The bottom mirror is 11 1/2 X 17 1/2" If you have been looking for a quality antique wall mirror to decorate your home, you may want to give this one some thought. Handle is 5 inches and the width is 6 inches. the mirror glass is BEVELED I have owned it for many years and have yet to find one that is even close to looking like this one. I have gone through every inch and can find no information where it is from and who made it. I took it to Rague's in Lambertville New Jersey, they are the Antique Road Show Auctioneers. Antique 19th Century Federal Rope Twist Mirror Frame Rare Classical Empire AAFA
Hi. I'm offering this rare Federal mirror, possibly made in Boston. The mirror dates from the early 19th century, circa 1800-1825. The design is bold and unusual with 4 girandole-type balls. One in each corner. The mirror has a hefty rope twist placed in a deep cove with 4 small acanthus leaves in each corner. The condition of the gilding is very pleasing. The original surface is evenly worn yet the mirror retains its splendor. Much of the burnished water gilding is still present. The mirror glass is a later 19th century replacement. There is some silver loss at the bottom of the plate. The back board appears to be original.
