19th Century American Federal New York Mahogany Overmantel Mirror Beautiful Rare
Description American Federal Period New York Mahogany three panel overmantle mirror with a wooden spread eagle and garlands with gilded leafs would be a great addition to your home. Circa 1820. And originating in New York this mirror is fresh to the market. This mirror was purchased in 1984 from a antique store in Philadelphia as were numerous other pieces that this client is going to consign to us. This beautiful mirror with beautiful water gilding that has been used to cover the eagle and the decorative foilage has a melted appearance to it. The eagle is carved of wood and with a layer of gezo and the water gild applied as the finish. The primary wood of this mirror is mahogany with pine as the secondary. This mirror does retain the oirignal mirror. This American Federal mirror measures 59" in width. 39 1/2" in height. The eagle ... moremeasures 23" in width, 11" in height on the plinth. Condition The overall condition of this mirror is excellent. There are losses to the water gild. This ca. 1825-1845 solid mahogany tabernacle mirror features antique gilt accents. Ring turned half columns, and numerous acorn pendant finials. It measures 38 ¾” x 17 ¼” overall; 8 ¾” x 12 7/8” upper pane; 21 ¾” x 13” mirror. The varnished surface is absolutely original; some of the gilding has been over painted in the past. The mirror pane has very bad silver in the bottom quadrant and is missing a base block/plinth. The turned half column base has come off but is present. It retains the original chamfered thin pine back and double brass knob hanging array. Its upper pane houses an original 1860/70s original Currier and Ives hand colored lithograph, A View On The Hudson” that replaces the earlier reverse painting. On each side and bottom are ornate scroll coat hooks. This is very rare and hard to find and would make a great collector’s item or add that extra touch for special high end décor. All is original except for possibly the washers beneath the nuts holding the coat hooks on. The wood is still solid with no soft spots. The mirror has to be the original metallic silver coated beveled glass. The age shows in the mirror with deterioration of the metallic coating evident. I actually went to the Carrver's Guild web site and discovered that each one of these sells wholesale to furniture and decorator stores for $1,125 each and those stores usually mark it up double, so the people probably paid around $2,250 each for these. Boren vintage mirror native american gilt design
Vintage mirror. Very cool design. Approximately 31 inches at the highest point and 16 inches at the widest. The three screws in front do not go all the way in and I think it's because they has some sort of felt protection or design around them. American folk art wood gesso carved primitive round beveled mirror rustic blue
This antique mirror is a rare find. Beautifully carved wood and gesso surround the circumference. The mirror is both beveled and scalloped. There is ready to hang hardware(although it is a little rusty and little crooked) The mirror is very old and shows signs of wear to the glass wood. Some scratches. Cracks and some nicks. Up for your consideration we have a vintage Syroco wall hanging mirror with an american eagle on it. It has convex or bubble style glass in it that resembles a ship's porthole. It is about 28" tall and 18" wide. The mirror itself is about 13" diameter. It is in good condition with just a few surface scratches here and there.
