Antique Victorian Round Mirror Black Frame with Seashells 12 1/2", Gilt Edge
This is an antique round mirror with a black painted gesso frame and a gilt painted inner edge. It is 12 1/2" in diameter. The gesso is in good condition. None missing. Some seashells were added and probably are not original to the frame, but it makes for a decorative effect. The silvering is in fairly good condition and there is some gilt paint loss, but this is a very old mirror. It has wire and is ready to hang. Antique Italian Rococo Style Carved Wood Hand Painted Framed Mirror 20 x 12 1/2
This is an absolutely beautiful Antique Italian Rococo Style carved wood and gesso mirror. Looks like it was carved from a single wood panel and is intricately painted with the most amazing details. So much detail. One would find details like this on a full sized piece of furniture. Hand painted with very intricate details of roses, flowers and the like. Base color is a rich deep creamy gold color which more than likely was originally an oil base white. Detailed with moss green and a profusion of red flowers embellishing this wonderful piece. Nicely varnished in clear giving this piece a wonderful warmth. Stands approximately 20 1/4 inches tall and measures approximately 12 1/2 inches wide and wood is over 1 1/2 inches at it's widest thickness. This was originally purchased by my grandmother who lived for a while in the Russian section ... morenear Knob Hill. San Francisco, California in the early sixties and apparently purchased this at Collectors Gallery 2217 Polk Street, San Francisco according to the faded ink stamp on the back fiberboard backing. Vintage vanity table mirror tray. It could be used upright in a stand or flat to put things on. The frame is glass in a reticulated pattern of little hearts. It's about 12" in diameter. The mirror alone is 9" wide, it is 1" thic k and weighs 3 pounds. The back is covered in black felt. We found it at an estate sale. It's not marked for age or maker. Probably mid-century. I'm guessing it has the sunlight hitting it on the right side for a hundred hears. This is made from one block of wood. No glue. The frame measures 11 1/2 inches diameter The mirror area is 6 inches diameter. The frame is 1 1/2 inches thick. The mirror is a replacement. The thumb tack was holding a string for hanging. The mirror itself measures 5.5 x 7.5 inches. The mirror is in decent condition for it's age. There is one small crack in the glass toward the top but it does not effect the integrity of the glass. This might be a mercury mirror but I'm not sure of that. You be the judge. One of the arms that hold the mirror to the back is missing. The other three are there. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN ORNATE BRONZE CHERUB VANITY MIRROR 13 1/2" X 12" X 2 3/4"
Offered for your consideration is this beautiful ornate bronze mirror. I believe it is bronze since my magnet does not stick to it. Although my magnet is not the strongest. It does stick to the screws on back but not to any other part on the mirror in the slightest bit at all. I know brass is slightly magnetic and bronze is not(based on what I read on line) This measures 13 1/2" high X 12" wide X 2 3/4" deep. The width is measured including the knobs on the side that screw on and off. This is a gorgeous mirror that can compliment many styles such as art nouveau, victorian, shabby chic. the list goes on. When I ship I will be taking the knobs off so I can fit it in a large flat rate box. They will screw back in, but be forwarned, that you have to spin them a little until they line up correctly. They will screw in once you find ... morethe spot. One screws in a little further than the other. I just don't want them damaged in the shipping. I've compared some of the mirrors on line. This one seems a little bigger. The screws on back are standard flat screws rather than phillips head which is an older type screw. As stated in the condition description. I believe the back has been replaced. I do not think the back is the original. I really think this is an older one. Look at the pics up close. As stated in the condition description I have not cleaned this, because I am uncertain what would be considered patina and desirable to the collector. I will leave cleaning up to the buyer. Not my field. Selling this for a friend. Vintage or antique Venetian Murano glass. Not certain of age. The three oval pieces that frame the mirror are separate rings. Flowers. With cross-hatch design, and beads are attached with wire to the wood back. The flowers, especially top flower are not tightly fixed but they are securely attached. No parts missing, no chips or cracks that I can discern. The bottom'feet' are beads also so looking straight on at the mirror the back is not really visible. The design on the mirror itself may be painted. Perhaps from behind? I don't feel any paint on the glass. The cross-hatch motif is echoed here. Some black spots. It's about 12" in diameter. The mirror alone is 9" wide, it is 1" thic k and weighs 3 pounds. The back is covered in black felt. The stand is 10" tall. We found it at an estate sale. It's not marked for age or maker. Probably mid-century. Condition: A few small marks on the glass of the mirror. The foil backing is in excellent condition. No nicks, no chips, no cracks. This auction is for a vintage scalloped beveled mirror or picture frame. The scalloped mirror measures 14" x 12" and there is a clear scalloped beveled glass that goes on top. It measures 12" x 10" The two pieces of glass are held together with the flower shaped pieces. A bolt and nut. This is nice heavy glass, together they weigh almost 6 pounds. I replaced the rusty wire, nuts and bolts. If you decide to use it as a picture frame a 10 x 8 photo works well. I found this at an estate sale and there was an old photo under the clear glass. It makes a very striking picture frame. The mirror really adds an elegant look to a photo. This is an old piece and there is some loss of silvering. Some of the edges are chipped but with the scalloped edges they are hard to see. This would look great as a mirror or a picture frame. You ... morecould even put a nice card or print in it. You never see these pieces anymore. Just too much labor to make. The frame is prettier than the photos show. I just don't know a good way to photograph a mirror. The back is old and crumbles if you pull at it so I did not take it on. It is in place with nails. I would replace the wire before I hung it as it is kind of brittle. There are some blemishes on the mirror as shown in the photos. It is clear, not foggy, but has some crackling to the background but it does not affect the use of the mirror.
