A stunning mirror made by top-notch London silversmith. William Comyns in a popular and very stylish fluted design almost resembling Peacock Feathers with an Art Nouveau flair. Standing on it's velvet covered easel stand, it can be packed flat for storage and travel. What makes this a particularly desirable example is the heart shaped original bevelled mirror making a very romantic choice. The silver has a full English hallmark for London 1898 and a separate maker's mark, W.C. for William Comyns. A vanity mirror, and a trinket box. it is a very ornate set with extremely intricate detailing and nice patina from age. All pieces are connected to beautiful circle linked chains which all connect to a silver-plated ring. The vanity mirror slides open to expose the hidden beveled mirror inside and shuts closed. the face cover of the mirror is of very ornate flowers and a detailed dragon wrapping the edge, they are done in very high relief. the compact box is in the shape of a shell and beautifully ribbed. The box opens and closes on a hinge and snaps tightly. inside is a beautiful silk. Antique Vintage Silver Shaving Mirror Stand
Up for sale is an antique shaving mirror obtained from an estate sale. I believe it's made of silver. But I can find no markings to confirm this. However, it seems to have the properties of silver. Magnets are not attracted to the metal, and when buffed with baking soda and water black tarnish marks come off on the cleaning cloth. The stand is adjustable. I have not tried to adjust the height. But it has a screw for doing so. It currently stands about 18" tall. The mirror is about 5.5" in diameter, or 6.25" if you include the frame of the mirror. The base is 5.5" in diameter. The mirror rotates 360 degrees. I am throwing in a plastic cup and shaving brush. But they are by no means original to the mirror. They will do for display but are not accurate to the time period. Old Beveled Edge Mirror Antique Vintage Frame Glass Silver
Up for bid is a very old antique mirror. I got it about 40 years ago out of an old building and it looked just as old then as it does now. The glass is bevel edged. The frame is some type of hardwood. The silver backing has deteriorated some. But I believe it would be worth it to have it re-silvered but I liked it just the way it is. It has a separate wooden back panel that can be removed by removing 4 screws. There is a little smear of white paint in a couple of places on the frame but I didn't try to remove that. You can still see your reflection in the mirror ok, the condition of the silvering just makes the mirror appear as if it is a little dirty on the outside. The frame is 22-1/2" wide, 24-1/2" tall, and 2" thick. The total weight is about an ounce and a half shy of 11 pounds. The wood on the frame around the mirror ... moreis 1-5/8" wide. Handle is 5 inches and the width is 6 inches. the mirror glass is BEVELED I have owned it for many years and have yet to find one that is even close to looking like this one. I have gone through every inch and can find no information where it is from and who made it. I took it to Rague's in Lambertville New Jersey, they are the Antique Road Show Auctioneers. Every Monday for free you may take up to 6 items to be priced. This mirror stumped them. Possibly from 1850- 1899 when it was common not to sign pieces. It has a Chippendale design. ANTIQUE FRENCH ORNATE VICTORIAN SILVER MIRROR FRAME
Recent estate find: selling a magnificent antique early 1900's FRENCH silver mirror frame. Originally there was a pair of these mirrors- one still had the original double beveled edge mirror intact(which I didn't get) and mine is just the frame. But wow- what a gorgeous frame! This is extremely good quality- very thick and very heavy! Pictures cannot do justice! Can still be used as a picture frame as is or one can add a mirror inside. This mirror frame dates from the Victorian era- early 1900's from France. The metal appears like silver but it may be a silver alloy metal- have not had tested. I also didn't see any marks. Frame has a stand in back so it can stand up also has a wire so it can be hung on wall. Mirror frame measures 19" in height and 12" width(widest part) It is in excellent condition.
