Antique 1870s BLACK FOREST Relief Carved Eagle Top Wood Frame OAK WALL MIRROR
I have up for sale a rare and beautiful vintage circa 1860s- 1880s Black Forest hand carved Hanging Wall Mirror. I believe that the frame is made of Oak- its relief carved with a bird. Possibly an Eagle on top. The bird has a glass eye and the talons are fixed on to a log. It measures approx 26-1/2" measured from the tip of the wing to the bottom of the vertical section of the frame,its approx 17-1/4" wide. The bird itself protrudes outward just over 4" The glass mirror itself measures approx 16-1/4" x 9" The frame is in very nice estate fresh as found condition. I am quite sure that the finish is the old original. Regardless it looks wonderful. It has a nice warm patina and recessed areas have darker coloration. Overall the frame is in Great Condition- other than some wear/small chip to the end tip of the birds beak ... morethe wood is in fantastic shape. Wear is light, the frame was well taken care of. The glass mirror is excellent- no silvering issues- no damages. I see that the bird is attached with 2 screws in the back. When I package it. I will take if off and package it separately. PLEASE HOLD OFF MAKING PAYMENT UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED MY INVOICE. I have not yet packaged and revise my listing in a day or so with for the shipping calculator because at the time of listing I had not yet found a box that will suitably accommodate the frame. I have a large antique beveled mirror. The size it 41 inches tall and 23 inches wide with frame. The mirror itself measures 36 inches tall by 17 ¼ inches wide. It does show its age with the mirror. The mercury on back a glass is spotted in some areas and one corner of the frame is loose. I am sure an expert can fix it. It is very HEAVY! My mother had this hanging on the wall in her entry way so I know it is doable to hang. I am no expert on conditions and try to describe to the best of my ability. This great old mirror is the definition of shabby chic or you could touch up the paint for a traditional look. It is 12 1/2 inches wide. 14 1/2" long. the mirror is in fine condition with no damage or discoloration.The frame looks to be oak on the backside. The applied acorn and oak leaf decoration is probably gesso but no chips, a line goes through the top and bottom one where the seams were dovetailed together, see photos.The narrow gesso gilt and beaded liner that surrounds the mirror has four nicks.Civil War era to late 1880s frame and not often found with the decoration intact. Ready to hang with its old wire hanger, the nails too are original it appears. Hard to photograph as everything is reflected, I apologize.

Antique Wooden Picture Frame Oak Leafs and Acornes New Mirror
Great condition. Very cleaned, new custom cut glass, delightful carved decorations on the frame: oak leaves with acorns. One of a kind! Frame in very good for its age condition with some stains on the back. Backing was replaced as well with the quality birch plywood. Frame still has original pins and hanging hardware. Mirror by itself size 10'x20' With the frame 12'x 22' Thank you!
