PAIR LARGE ANTIQUE TALL ITALIAN VENETIAN GILT IRON BRASS WALL MIRROR PALLADIO?
We are very pleased to offer this magnificent pair of antique(1920s-1940s) mirrors. These large mirrors feature beautiful gilted iron and brass frames. They are very much in the Palladio. Italy style in terms of their pattern and frame design. The gilt iron frames are heavy and feature a"suspended" outer frame which is connected to the inner frame by a series of ball shaped connectors. The frames are then embellished with ornate yet simple scrolling curves on the corner sections and are topped by a gilt brass, large, fleur de lis. The mirrors are very old and because the backs are missing, they have some scratching to the mirrored coating on the backs. They are secured in the frames with the original wooden border which is fitted on the inner side of the frame on the backs of the mirrors(see picture 11) The backs of the frames are ... morefinished in red, again suggesting Palladio as this was common with Palladio mirrors. Because the backs are missing, there are no manufacturer's stickers. However, the frames are numbered on the front side in the upper section. These are exceptionally designed mirrors and frames. The finish is in very good condition with little evidence of age or wear. We can ship either with the mirrors or without. You can choose this option. The mirrors probably need to be replaced if you don't like the"aged and worn" look. I have had them hanging in my home for a while and I love the aged charm.just a personal preference. This is an absolutely beautiful Antique Italian Rococo Style carved wood and gesso mirror. Looks like it was carved from a single wood panel and is intricately painted with the most amazing details. So much detail. One would find details like this on a full sized piece of furniture. Hand painted with very intricate details of roses, flowers and the like. Base color is a rich deep creamy gold color which more than likely was originally an oil base white. Detailed with moss green and a profusion of red flowers embellishing this wonderful piece. Nicely varnished in clear giving this piece a wonderful warmth. Stands approximately 20 1/4 inches tall and measures approximately 12 1/2 inches wide and wood is over 1 1/2 inches at it's widest thickness. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE MIRROR! We are pleased to offer this UNIQUE. Older vintage(mid 20th Century) French or Italian wall mirror. The exceptional mirror is MASSIVE and measures 57" tall and 40" wide. It features an extremely ornate and intricately detailed frame. The frame(an Italian Florentine type hard foam synthetic) features large acanthus leaves and drapery accents as the primary background. Large cherubs/angels are found on the upper and lower frame center. Centurions/warriors are featured(back profile with no face detail) on each center side. The North Wind face is on each lower corner and a small"devil face" is located on the bottom center of the frame and is surrounded with an acanthus leaf, heart shaped medallion. Centurion helmets, horns and drums are also found in the details as are corded strands which intertwine ... morewith the acanthus leaves. All of the features are accomplished in a very deep relief so there is an abundance of texture to the frame. The frame is finished with an oversized acanthus leaf topper. This is a beautiful frame, exceptionally detailed. The colors are cream or ivory and a rose/purple which are all"glazed" with a golden color. The mirror and frame are in very good condition. There are some very minor paint chips. But they are very hard to notice and can be easily resolved. There is nothing distracting. The glass is beveled around the edges and is free of chips, cracks or discoloration. The backing is paper(looks like it has been replaced) with two fairly new hanging brackets. Top has a heraldry type family crest? and flag stripes. Decorated with scrolls. I believe Roses with one rose each side top. acanthus? flowers. Grapes, leaves ormolu? There are 4 dowels with points pointing diagonally. Not sure what they represent. Gold plaster gesso gilted. Plaster gesso over wood ... moreframe and some carved wood I believe on sides with gesso over that. Age distressed but sound and sturdy no major damage nothing missing. Except as noted. Separated 3 places as seen in photos 2 on bottom, 1 on side. This is where the wood joints are. 2 of the dowels do not go in all the way possibly too long. The tips of two pointing upward have some old repair on them. Piece of plaster missing on top end. Seen in photo. Several other minor chips area of plaster loss. Very good overall. Minor to moderate wear. Cracks could be filled in and brighter heavy gold could possibly hide lot of this. The plaster could be repaired or enjoy the way it is. Later glass not beveled. For your consideration is this lovely mirror. We are not very knowledgeable on mirrors. But had an antique dealer give an opinion that the mirror was Italian, 1930-40s and gold over gesso. Even at that, we will have to let the experts decide whether or not they agree and are certainly welcome to share knowledge with us. The mirror measures approximately 43-3/4" wide. 34" tall, and 2" thick. The mirror is not beveled. As for condition: The mirror looks to be in excellent condition for its age with very light wear and scratches here and there. Late 18th- Early 19th Century Item# 120009EIE29 This is a simply stunning Louis XV Period hanging wall mirror of outstanding craftsmanship and design. Circa the period or just thereafter, possibly as late as the first few years of the 19th century. The workmanship is beyond remarkable, the entire frame carved of solid pine, covered in a thin gesso and painted with gold gilt paint. The level of piercing to the cartouche would have left the mirror vulnerable, but as looking at the back of the mirror it is clear this mirror has been very carefully cared for over the years. The original hand forged screws still hold pieces of the flowing cartouche to the main portion ... moreof the frame. The delicate balance of flowing and scrolling acanthus leaves and c-scrolls are interlaced with feather-like plumes that curl around and over the frame, wrapping around the kidney-shape glass of the mirror. The glass is clearly replaced and in overall excellent condition. This is an absolute treasure. Above reproach in every way and in a wonderful preserved state. Antique Italian trumeau mirror Bologna Italy gesso gilt frame and good condition
A delightful small trumeau mirror with an elegance typical of the nineteenth century. Gesso gilt frame and an old world picture above the mirror which is of ladtes and gentlement in period costume cavorting around a field within a country scene. More than this I cannot tellyou but it is old. In godd sound condition for it's age, and has no defects I can find on close inspection apart from wear to the frame with age. The picture has been seale dover with lacquer to prtect it from further damage. As ther is a linear repair at the bottom of the picture which has been painted over in dark brown. This is an old vintage mid century or earlier pair of showy French style scroll wood frames with gesso and gold gilt from a beautiful home. Each one is 27" by 16" and the mirror is 9 1/2" The top crest on one has been reglued on and had nails added in back. You can see the glue from front. See photo. Vintage VENETIAN SPIRAL TWIST Glass Mirror Tray Italian Art Deco Antique Ex This gorgeous vintage/antique mirrored tray was produced in Italy circa 1930's(possibly a Carlo Scarpa design) and features a double spiral Venetian glass cane border with art deco arrow shaped brass corners. Made as a vanity or serving tray. It would also make a gorgeous wall mirror with an added hanger. Approx. measurements are 15 3/4" long. 10" wide and 1 5/8" deep. Great antique condition however the brass has been polished and the corners are a very light brass color/ almost a silver. One has some spotting as shown. Mirror is nice with little wear and a few surface scratches. It is missing a few of the nails holding the mirror in however the mirror is very secure as is. Really an amazing vanity mirrored tray. Antique Italian Poppy Mirror 1866 Mme de France Fontanella di Borghese Green
For your consideration. This absolutely stunning Italian wood and gesso mirror is 148 years old and features two clusters of poppy flowers at each side and a blossom at the bottom. This is 13.5" wide and 18.5" tall. As you can see, there is paint loss and some gesso chips, but none of the poppies are missing. There is a fissure at the top of the frame and another on the left lower side. This is still very solid. I love old mirrors like this! The glass is spotty from age. But no cracks. The back of this is papered and handwritten on the side is: Mme de France, an illegible 2-letter word, and the address"6 Fontanelli di Borghese, which is in Rome, Italy. This weighs 3 lbs 11 oz. I do not know any history on this piece.
