Stunning mirror that is authentic this is not a reproduction. This is carved wood and has the most beautiful leaded glass decorations to the corners. The mirror is incredible and is perfect fit over a fireplace as pictured or over a buffet cabinet! 18 inch high 52 inch long! Louis XIII style with fine floral. Scroll and dot etchings on panels and cartouches surrounding a rectangular glass mirror. The mirror's many facets catch the light and reflect various parts of the objects in the room in a very exciting and cheerful manner. This elegant style has been reproduced by the repro artists due to its exceptional traditional flair.but this one is old. First of all the color. The picture of the whole mirror came up more vanilla. Due to the flash. This was a tough one to photo. The true color of the background is a more neutral, old aged soft antique white. The front pictures of the mirror showing the gilt carving, are the true colors. The mirror came fresh from an estate in Manhatten and is even a bit dusty.right off the wall on the east side. The mirror is 59 3/8 inches high. And 38 1/2 inches wide and the depth is approximately 2 1/2 inches thick. The frame is good and solid, the mirror ... moredoes not wobble and is structurally sound. The oil painting is lovely and it could use a good cleaning and it would sparkle, however; I leave just as is for the purists, and leave it up to them. To each their own. The gilt on the carved filagree and scrolls are in excellent condition, intact, with no repairs. Like I say.from an estate and was kept for many years. The age of the mirror is somewhere between 1820 and 1860. This of course, is my best guess upon examing the mirror and knowing where it came from. If you are an antique lover of French, you will come up with the same conclusion, just by seeing the back pictures. Infact, they come up lighter than they are, due to the bright sunlight in my room. This ca. 1845-1860 walnut on pine veneer frame is topped by deeply carved solid walnut crest and measures 38 ½” x 21 3/8” with 28 ¼” x 16 ½” reveal. It is constructed of 1 ½” thick wood and the entire frame appears to retain its original finish under a later coat of varnish. There are mounting holes on the side of the frame and you will note minor shrinkage cracks in the stable veneer which has no obvious loss. Antique wood carved guilt mirror with cherubs,French, Italian, Venetian?
My wife inherited this mirror from her mother 30 years ago. It does not go with our cabin decor(obviously) so she has decided to sell. It has been kept in climate controlled storage. The exterior dimensions are: 28"H X 22"W. Interior(mirror) is: 17"H X 12 and 3/4"W. It was apparently restored many years ago. It is very old as the patina on the wood in back and the hook hanger show. Do not know the era or style- 18th. Or 19th Century or Rocco, French, Italian, or Venetian. It is in excellent shape with only small minor chips. Please rely on pictures for condition.
