This is a very rare pair of large antique victorian copper and brass fireplace andirons. made in mid to late 1800's they are made from extremely thick copper and brass and are extremely heavy. in a victorian style with exquisite detailing throughout. the base if footed with large routed ornate feet and the center has a heavily embossed female face and a fleur-de-lis underneath. it is very thick with bubble and floral trim. the base meets the large copper globe with a ribbed brass section. the globe shaped body is made from very thick copper and also is very ornate with demonic faces connected with hung fruit. TIME TO MOVE THIS VERY NICE ITEM- NEW LOWER PRICE! A very nice-looking fireplace fender from my family home. Built in 1895. I would guess the fender itself was"original equipment" in the house, especially comparing it with the other fenders that came from same house. But it could be 1890's- 1910's, I am guessing. Only minimally polished in order to clean up. The spindles or uprights are solid brass and are not magnetic. The top two tubular cross pieces are brass plate. The base is not magnetic or is only very slightly. Maybe due to the iron brackets and screws underneath. This piece has a lovely scale to it and only has minimal dings and bumps- no serious dents and no cracks or bad stains. The posts are in great condition and just look super after a minimum of buffing. Details: 39 inches long by 9.5 inches deep by 7 inches ... morehigh. Weight: Nine pounds. A striking pair of wrought iron and brass andirons from the Victorian era in good. Undamaged condition. They show natural blackening from the fireplace and also some residue on the backside of the brass lyre tops most likely from someone trying to polish the brass at one time. The height of each is 21.25" and the dimensions of the lyre form are 5 5/8 inches by 8.75 inches. The length of the iron supports is 17.5 inches from front to back. This is a stunning pair of mid 19th century brass and iron fireplace andirons. they are very ornate with intricate detailing and have a wonderful patina from age. they are nicely footed with dimensional claw feet and nicely curved legs. the shaft and ball top finial are deeply ribbed with a detailed filler piece in-between. the finial is very large and also topped with a solid brass finial. the back wood rest are large and made from cast iron. One has a very old repair that gives nice character. they each measure 22 inches tall by 8 inches wide by 22 1/4 inches back to front. they are nice old andirons. Wonderful set of very old brass and cast iron dancing lady androns. Each stands 16" tall x 6" wide x 17" deep. Each of the andirons depicts a different dancing lady. Brass fronts and cast iron supports. Purchased at a Mt. farm estate sale. Unsure of the age and find no markings. Great origional condition with no problems other than normal use, some"greening" as shown in the pictures. The andirons will be disassembaled for shipping as shown in pic#9. To reassembale you just need to screw on the threaded leaf piece and attach the front to the legs. The last picture is of the nut and bolt to reattach. Very easy but you will propably need a adjustable wrench or pliers to tighten. These are quit heavy, I'm guessing 10+ lbs each, thus the high shipping costs. We were instructed by'the powers that be' to totally empty and remove the whole of the content of a very remote and isolated Dartmoor cottage. The dwelling having had a'compulsory purchase order' levied upon it. When we eventually located and arrived at the property which was serviced by only a single cart track, we were astonished at the amount of antiquated and vintage items and furthermore, the years of compacted clutter that confronted us. The cottage had been unlived in for the previous two and a half years but surprisingly the contents were still totally intact and the place was remarkably dry. The reason for the contents still being in situ, intact and unmolested was the very remoteness of the place, out of site of prying eyes, if ... moreyou get my drift. There was no gas, no electricity, just natural spring water and an old oil stove for cooking. The site put me in mind of the famous'Lorna Doone' classic, so intense was the isolation and its outstanding naturally beautiful surroundings. Lighting was by paraffin lamps of which there was a surfeit and many of these were fully operational. We forged ahead and completed the job, disposing of all the'tat' and removing a vast amount of'smalls' to the store. These were kept back for further investigation and to determine their commercial value, a service they never received.the best laid plans of mice and men!I must interject at this point and explain that at that same time as this clearance, checking back in the books, we had no less than four jobs on the go in that particular week and things got slightly out of hand and stuff got pushed anywhere, simply to create space!
