Here is a Antique Cast Iron fireplace insert in very good condition for its age. I just purchased this from an estate sale and the owner said its been in the house since he can remember and he was about 50 years old. The piece has numbers on it in the back 1505-18-20 the swivel grate is numbered No.2 230. I can find no other markings. The grate measures 20 inches wide. 18 inches high and 12 inches front to back. The condition is very good no damage I could find just some surface corrosion from use and age. The grate looks like it could come apart with a turn of a heavy screw driver but that looks like it could be an issue from age I don't think they will turn without major cleaning and oiling. Great find for a Mid Century Modern enthusiast. Vintage 1950's to 1960's low Cast Iron metal If I was using this piece. I would use it for a magazine or newspaper rack. However, it is so low, that I think it was originally a Mid Century Modern log holder/ rack for the fireplace. I believe that the top portion would hold the logs/ wood and that the lower section would hold newspaper for tinder needed to start the fire. The logs have small slots in them so when the burner was lit the flames would be in back giving the logs an appearance of being on fire. Penn Antique Restoration. 20" H Pair Antique Brass Fireplace Andirons. These beautiful antique andirons were made around the first half of the previous century and were salvaged from Northeastern PA. They have cast iron shanks. And heavy, cast brass guards. Unlike many lesser quality andirons available on eBay; the guards on these andirons are not plates or halves-the design you see on the front is the design you see on the back. Each guard has curved legs and a bulbous. Tapered body with 2 cups and a solid finial on top. The shanks, which hold the logs, curve to the sides of the guards at which point they continue straight, away from the guards. There is a brass plate covering the curved portion of each shank. Notice the delicate brass finials adorning the shanks at the point where their curves end—what lovely accents! The beauty of ... morethe design is enhanced by a wonderful. Rich patina. One of the guards has a significant degree of verdigris(green patina) We rubbed them with oil to accentuate the beauty of the patina, and we scrubbed the shanks with steel wool and WD40 to remove most of the rust. 6.5 ft Log Fireplace Mantle Persimmon American Ebony Wood Very Rare
Please see all pics. This is an amazing piece of nature. We have never seen another thing like it. First. The tree limbs were cut off at some point and the tree healed and lived which gives it the unique knots. Then it was taken over by worms and still lived which gives the absolutely beautiful texture. It also has the much sought after"pimples" that make it even more unique! But then it was cut down to be made into a railroad tie and the sawmill discarded it into a burn pile thinking it was too small. That's where we came in. We love to go to sawmills in the area looking for gems hidden in huge burn piles. John spotted this right away and brought it home last fall and has hand sanded it to perfection for ten months now. He has hundreds of hours in this piece and it shows. The consecutive cut boards shown in one of the pics ... morecome with it so you can build around your fireplace with them or build a matching shelf. It measures 79.5 ft long. And is approx 9"wide, more in some spots. This piece is not for everyone. If I had a house worthy of displaying it it wouldn't be for sale. We hope it finds the perfect home. 250+ Year Old Hand Hewned Oak Fireplace Mantel Mantle Large 59X18X8 Log Table
A Super RARE find. A Hand Hewn Oak Log( may be Ash or Hickory I can not tell for sure) Super Large size with a length perfect for your fireplace mantel. measures 59 1/2 inches long 18 inches deep( try to find another like that) and 7 1/2 inches thick. was covered with some old whitewash and plaster residue. I power washed the beam to remove that old stuff. has live edges. one side has some of the old lath nails. NOW this log is large enough that you could make 4 mantles by quartering. cut in half either direction to make 2 super mantles. Please ask questions. You are welcome to come and take a look at this super item before making a decision. Listed as pick-up but as always shipping can be arranged. I counted the rings at the end and lost track after 150. since it is hand hewn you could add another 100 years to that. Like this log is most ... morelikely older than this Country.
