The outer edge is a lovely array of curled acanthus leaves with open wood work. The inner edge around glass is a lovely garland of small roses and flowers. There are some cracks and minor loss of gesso. All commensurate with age, adding to the vintage charm and authenticity. Quality Old Antique Beveled Mirror Rare Gesso Wooden Frame Velvet Lined Nice This is a top quality antique beveled mirror. It is very nice in every way. It is in great condition for it's age. The frame is just beautiful and it has a layer of burgundy velvet that really gives it a great classic look. It measures 22 inches wide and 22 inches long. It has only one nick on the frame that I can see. This mirror is from the 1800's and is still in great shape. Someone tightened it up a little by adding some hardware to the back of it and that has made it very sturdy. I bought this with a number of other items from a New York state estate but I think this might have come from Europe originally. It is a top quality piece that you might not see another one of. And I estimate that it’s probably from either the late 1800s or early 1900s. This antique(pre-owned) mirror has a wooden frame and wood backing. It looks like the wooden frame was coated with a plaster-like material and then painted black and brown/beige as shown in the pictures. The side of the frame farthest from the mirror is painted black. Then the flat area at the front is painted a beige/brown mottled combination, then a thin strip just inside that is black followed by a brown strip right next to the mirror. The back side of the mirror ... moreis unpainted wood with a metal wire hanger that needs replacing.
