Vintage Swivel Vanity Dresser Mirror with Drawer Ornate Victorian Style
Beautiful swivel dresser mirror with drawer bought by my grandparents in the early 1950's. Measures 21 1/2" tall. 16 1/2" wide and 8" deep. I believe it is walnut, but I'm not sure. The finish is walnut. The wood above the mirror has decorative carving. Ornate spindles with antique brass knobs/turns hold the mirror. In nice condition with a bit of wear and scratches. Those spots can be touched up with Old English Scratch Cover. Or some other kind of wood restorer, or the whole piece can be painted for a shabby look. Brass needs cleaning. Circa 1850-1860 Victorian Eastlake Style Pier Hall Mirror
With all the richness of the mid 1800's Victorian era. We have an Eastlake style pier hall mirror. The top of the mirror has Gothic style gingerbread trim in two rows. The top middle of the mirror frame has double ornamental upside down finial carvings. The frame detail includes low relief and incised line carvings commonly found in Eastlake style. The mirror is flanked by smooth columns that look marbleized in dark wood and black. The mirror has been loved and used. The wood columns. Believed to be walnut, are worn and scuffed. The top left cornice is off and needs to be re-attached. The bottom ledge that the mirror sits on is missing 3/4 of the ledge; the missing piece measures 1 1/2 X 17. The setting and the bow trim seem to be made of solid brass. The mirrors have lost silvering with age. The ivy-patterned paper front is worn as well. there is a marked" oct 14 1910" on the bottom of the oval shape glass. the rim/edge of the glass piece has some crack on it. This is a very ornate pair of matching vanity mirror plateaus. These are not footed and sit flat on the surface. They look like bronze but I believe they are actually spelter.
