This is an antique round mirror with a black painted gesso frame and a gilt painted inner edge. It is 12 1/2" in diameter. The gesso is in good condition. None missing. Some seashells were added and probably are not original to the frame, but it makes for a decorative effect. The silvering is in fairly good condition and there is some gilt paint loss, but this is a very old mirror. It has wire and is ready to hang. It does have some scratches on the mirror which I am sure is from how old it is. The leather on the backside is hardened from age. There are no cracks or breaks and it has a wonderful bevelling in the mirror which is very hard to picture accurately. It is 8 1/2" across and is about an 1" tall. It is pretty heavy. I'm guessing it has the sunlight hitting it on the right side for a hundred hears. This is made from one block of wood. No glue. The frame measures 11 1/2 inches diameter The mirror area is 6 inches diameter. The frame is 1 1/2 inches thick. The mirror is a replacement. The thumb tack was holding a string for hanging. Antique Barbola roses mirror with bow from around the 1920's. Lovely large size. Perfect really, at 22" tall by 21 1/4" wide. Gorgeous. Ornate detail with muted gold shimmery patina on the frame. Barbola roses. Rose leaves with a large bow on the top. Roses along the sides with sweeping leaf motif flowing between blooms. In fine condition except for one small missing edge. see 2nd to last picture) Does not show much. But it not perfect. The frame is made of wood- solid and firm. Ready to hang on wall on solid. Safe, but original wires. All the barbola and roses are intact. The true age of this fabulous mirror is obvious from the back- 1920's probably. And even maybe earlier in the Victorian era. The leaves and ornamentation has been repainted somewhere along the way in silver. The glass has some waviness in it and some streaking, consistent with age.
