It looks like its copper but it could be spelt metal under a copper or bronze patina. It’s very heavy. I thought solid bronze when I first saw it. It has a chip off the back side of the base but positioned with mirror forward ... moreyou wouldn’t notice it. Please view all photo’s carefully. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN TRUMEAU FRENCH LADY PRINT ROSES PANSY VERTICAL WALL MIRROR
This is an old 19th Century Victorian boudoir wall mirror from a wonderful high end estate. It is vertical with the top section being an old original antique print of French ladies in the boudoir dressing. The print is in nice condition. The frame is 13 1/2" by 55" and the print is 9 3/4" by 13 1/2" The frame has all original patina and features a gold or bronze gilt with pink roses and pansies in relief. The frame has blue highlights. The frame has a few hairlines in the gesso which is common to old frames. See closeups. I also see a 2" fracture line in the gesso on center left side of the frame. Also in same location is a fracture on the backside. See my two closeups photo 10 and 11. This is non offensive and not a big deal. Set in a neoclassical ornate brass frame with a bevelled mirror, this is a stunning Victorian piece which was designed to hang on a vanity unit. LOUISE ÉLISABETH VIGEE LE BRUN Louise Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun(Marie Élisabeth Louise; 16 April 1755– 30 March 1842) also known as Madame Lebrun. Was a French painter, and is recognized as the most important female painter of the 18th century. Her style is generally considered Rococo and shows interest in the subject of neoclassical painting.
