Ornate Antique Bronze Victorian Mirror Picture Frame Signed Faroy Cuba Cherubs
Just out of a local house is this fine ornate antique bronze easel style mirror or picture frame. It has a winged cherub face. Winged creatures in the upper corners, Northwind faces on the sides with fruit and foliate motifs. The frame measures 18 7/8 inches high and 15 7/8 inches wide and currently has a mirror but could be used as a picture frame if desired. It is a heavy bronze casting weighing about 9 3/4 pounds. ITEM: Highly ornate antique Victorian era French Trumeau giltwood and gold gesso beveled glass wall mirror featuring a carved marble panel with nude cherubs. A small centaur and a woman tying up or untying a drowsy man or God. This may be a classical scene with Dionysus as the small centaur and one of the cherubs are imbibing in a large jug of drink. In any case, the sculpture is well executed and detailed. The gesso frame is two tiered with ornate scallops, scrolls, acanthus leaves and fan/shell decorations on the corners. WHEN MADE: Mid to late 1800s SIZE: Approximately ... more27" x 15" x 2" thick CONDITION: There are a couple of raised gesso trim pieces missing and some wear to the bottom gold as pictured. The frame is free of breaks. Cracks or flaking with a deep, rich patina. The marble and beveled glass mirror are free of breaks, cracks or chips. Up for auction today is this Beautiful Antique Victorian Large Gilt Ormolu Cast iron and Brass Easel Back Mirror. The piece measures 11 1/2" wide. And is 9 1/4" tall. The mirror itself measures 7 1/2" wide by 5 1/4" tall. It has a 1/2" beveled edge in the mirror. There is appropriate age wear to the silvering, but nothing bad or detracting. The entire piece is Adorned with 3 Cherubs one at the Top and one on Each Side. The easel back is solid Brass, probably done that way because of the strength needed for support. There is a No. on the back which I have taken a photo of, it is no. 546, and this Mirror was probably made by Jennings Brothers, or Bradley and Hubbard. It is done very well and the Gilt Ormolu is dark and rich with very little if any wear to it. This Mirror was very well cared for. No breaks, or chips ... moreor dents. And very heavy. You would have seen one of these in Every house in the Victorian Era, in all different styles and shapes. Purchased from a Private Estate of items from that Time period. The back of the middle panel is covered with a leather-style board. This mirror sits elevated on 4 decorative little feet, and is finished off with brass scrollwork along the top of the central panel, and a heavy chain for hanging. The hinges operate smoothly, and the mirror can be displayed in folded form in tight spaces. Fully opened, measures ~13in tall X 33&1/2in wide, with a 13in long chain for hanging. In closed position, measures ~13in tall X 17&1/2in wide. Richly patinaed over time, this mirror is in overall good condition considering age, with age-related yellowing, mild soilage, dustiness, and superficial scratches. The mirror itself shows haziness with loss of silvering, and the bakelite has a superficial linear scratch, and loss of a tiny piece near one corner, and within the cartouches which are not readily apparent. Here is a gorgeous antique Victorian dresser mirror. Made of a heavy metal and coated with a brass finish. It measures 14 x 16 1/2 ins. is marked with the initials JB& IW and the model number 2002 at the back top. The mirror is in good vintage condition, no breaks, missing only one holding screw on the mirror, and has some mild age darkening marks in the bottom left side of mirror. You can see it has cherubs/angels and putti on the surround, and the typical elaborate decorations common with the Victorian late 1800s time period. This ornate oval shaped dresser or table mirror is decorated with flowers. Birds and winged cherubs. There is some wear to the cherubs as shown in the photos. The mirror has a beveled edge and has some scratches to the surface. There is also some loss to the silver backing. The frame itself is in great condition with no cracks or breakage to the metal. TREASURE TROVE MARKET presents for your consideration this very pretty highly ornate antique look gold swing tilt syroco style mirror adorned with putti cherubs. Made from plastic resin composition similar to syroco that gives the effects of beautiful carvings. Entire framed mirror measures approx. 12" widest by 15" tall. Mirror is approx. 7" by 8" In very nice condition with some age marks. Spotting and aged patina mostly on base to note, light tiny scratch marks on mirror and mirror is a tiny bit short across top but Nothing detrimental, you can still see yourself well and tilt works fine. Vintage Victorian iron vanity mirror white table stand tilt cherubs
This lovely mirror has been in my family for years. But now that we are downsizing. We simply will not have room for it in our small house in Florida. Aside from needing a good cleaning and maybe a coat of paint, it is in very good sound condition. As with all my items I am selling it as is, so please be sure to ask any questions.
