Description: A superb antique 19th century French sterling silver table top/ vanity dressing mirror. Of rectangular form with serpentine or arched top. Exquisite decoration to the sterling frame. Patterned with Louis XV style ribbon and reed embellished with laurel. Accented further by a neoclassical border of laurel leaves and resting atop a pair of scrolled pedestal feet flanked by sprigs of laurel. The impressive ornamental finial is casted of thick silver, beautifully detailed with openwork. Featuring a large medallion cartouche, topped by a large ribbon bow, flanked by various country flowers. Measures an impressive 20 1/2" x 13 3/4" Mounted onto a thick, solid wooden backing with folding easel. Original sliding mechanism is intact and in good working order. The original glass mirror is of very thick glass with a wide beveled ... moreedge, intact and in good shape for its 100+ years with no chips or cracks. Provides a clear reflection after all these years, not marred by cloudiness or severe silver loss. Some spotting and yellowing in areas, this only adds to the charm of this old mirror and does not detract from its beauty. A fine French sterling mirror such as this is difficult to come by, and one in such fine condition is rarer still. We've been lucky to have had two others in our RL shop in the past, and this mirror is by far the largest and most decorative we've seen. In very good condition for age and type with general wear. Up for consideration is a lovely Antique Victorian Purple Guilloche Enamel Hand Mirror The mirror measures approx. 10 1/2" in length. It is a lovely purple guilloche enamel set in sterling silver. There are hallmarks on the side(see Pict. 6) There appears to be 2 letters. A lion, a face, the letter"m" and then another tiny mark. I am guessing it to be English. The bottom of the handle has some loss of enamel. The rest of the enamel is in good condition and has normal wear. This is a stunning antique handmade 19th century handmade Victorian sterling silver and enamel lipstick holder/ mirror case. it is made completely of sterling and has some nice weight to it. the whole piece is beautifully engraved by hand with stunning floral and scroll detailing. there is a very small hand painted figural scene done in enamel at the top. it is painted with many different colors and extremely detailed depicting a male and female lying with animals under nice foliage. right on the side is a hand cut and polished blue lapis stone which doubles as a handle. when slid outward it opens the spring loaded mirror which is under the figural painted lid. it is in nice condition. the end pulls out and is the piece that holds the lipstick. the lipstick is operated also buy the lapis stone handle. the piece is in exquisite condition and ... moremeasures 2 1/4 inches long by 1 inch wide.
