The workmanship is truly amazing. Pieces are in excellent condition except for the mirror of the hand mirror. Which it appears someone tried to remove- it is completely secure but is a little"off" as shown. Very light scuffs to silver here and there, mirror back has a few"pin-prick" like indentions, over all in amazing condition. The Webster hallmark(a W with an arrow-like symbol through it) is very light but can be seen beside the sterling mark on the mirror, and on the handle of the nail file, in the right light. Very old and unique piece! This came from my Grandfather's estate. And was given to him by his father, as I was told. My Grandfather was born in 1887. It has some wear on the handle. As it obviously had been used! The body of mirror. I was just informed by a fellow ebay member, is made of a material called gutta percha. Which had many interesting uses back in the 1800's. Up for bid is a very unusual antique hand held mirror. Measures 11 in. long. Handle is 5 inches and the width is 6 inches. the mirror glass is BEVELED I have owned it for many years and have yet to find one that is even close to looking like this one. I have gone through every inch and can find no information where it is from and who made it. I took it to Rague's in Lambertville New Jersey, they are the Antique Road Show Auctioneers. Every Monday for free you may take up to 6 items to be priced. This mirror stumped them. Possibly from 1850- 1899 when it was common not to sign pieces. It has a Chippendale design. Very decorative old hand mirror with organic floral Jugendstil/ art nouveau design on both sides. The silvering on the mirror is disappearing around the edges of the mirror but the glass is intact and original. Quite heavy. But I did not find any silver or hallmarks, so I assume the material is perhaps silvered pewter(Zinn) A couple of minor scuff marks and one tiny ding in the edges of the frame, it is in remarkably good condition. The monogram"M" is in the middle of the backside of the mirror and it appears as those someone tried to clean this area based on some rub marks. Up for consideration is a lovely Antique Victorian Purple Guilloche Enamel Hand Mirror The mirror measures approx. 10 1/2" in length. It is a lovely purple guilloche enamel set in sterling silver. There are hallmarks on the side(see Pict. 6) There appears to be 2 letters. A lion, a face, the letter"m" and then another tiny mark. I am guessing it to be English. The bottom of the handle has some loss of enamel. The rest of the enamel is in good condition and has normal wear. Hi.This is a beautiful hand mirror that was given to my wife some years ago by an elderly neighbor she cared for.She just ran across it again and decided to list it and find it a good home.From what the woman told her,it is very old.The mirror itself is beveled glass.It does have some scratching on the mirror which is to be expected of something of its age. The back part of it is a beautiful shaded green celluloid with a pretty silver inlay and a center silver design that looks like it could be monogramed if you wanted to.Right now it is blank with little wings on each side.The whole mirror handle and all measures 12& 1/2 inches long and 5 inches wide. But could not find image anymore Hammerprice of that was either 3000 or 12.000( can not remeber was it Pounds or Dollars) I have been told that this was set of items. That Jesep Frank named silversmith took from Austria before WWII to Sweden and some of the items werre subsecuently bought by Finnish silvermaking/reselling agentuur. There is 835S stamp that could be meaning Austria. I dont know Then there is monogram that I believe to be makers mark. Vintage Art Deco Silver Metal Personal Hand Mirror With Raised Floral Design
This is a Vintage Art Deco Personal Hand Mirror made from a Silver Type Metal. There are Raised Floral Designs throughout this Heavy and Stunning mirror. I'm unsure of the exact type of metal this mirror was made from. This mirror weighs 1.6 pounds and measures 9 and 1/2" tall by 5" wide by 5/8" thick. This item is in excellent condition with no breaks. Bends, or repairs present, however there is a tiny ding in the glass by the bottom towards the center along the rim of the glass. This defect is hardly noticeable, and doesn't take away from any of the mirrors beauty. It has a lovely look to it, with a timeless appeal. Mirror portion 5 1/4" x 4 1/2" with 3/8" bevel; silvering on mirror all intact with one small scratch. Beautiful pattern of trumpet vines; a monogram in the center of the pattern. No makers mark found; in excellent condition for its age. Comb: Measures 7 5/8" long. 1 3/4" width and the silver portion is 1/2" across the top.
