This is a gilted silver hat ornament. Made in China circa end of 1800s. The hat ornament is in the shape of one of the Eight Immortals in the Taoist religion. He is seen carrying a lotus stem. Even though the size of the ornament is very small there are a lot of details. The size of the ornament is small than an AA batteries and yet you can see the minute detail and expression of the god. Chinese children wore embroidered hats sewn with silver or gold ornaments to ward off evil and bring good fortune. There are holes on the sides of the ornament for sewing. Description Victorian Sterling Silver GILTED Pill/Snuff Box PENDANT Birmingham 1905! ESTATE SALE This Antique Trinket. Pill or Snuff Box measures approximately 3.20 cm across the length of its body from side to side by just under 2.50 cm across the width of its body from its hinged back to the front edges and it stands just under 8 mm tall to the top of its lid when closed. This is an unusual and rare piece. The box is made from solid sterling silver formed in an RECTANGULAR shape and it has a three section piano hinge on the back of its lid. The inside is gold gilted. absolutely stunning! the inner body and lid have been impressed with a full set of English solid sterling silver hallmarks.on this extremely unusual item there is a loop at the top which appears to allow either a necklace or something else to be threaded.the size of the hole ... moreis approx 1.5 mm. WEIGHT: 8.59 gr HEIGHT: 8 mm LENGTH: 2.50 cm WIDTH: 3.30 cm MARK A& LL- Anchor- Lion Passant? f A& LL is the Birmingham silversmith or makers mark of Adie& Lovekin Ltd the Anchor is the mark of the Birmingham assay office. The Lion Passant is the mark of English 925 standard solid sterling silver and the letter g is the assay office date letter for 1905. The condition is used and near Mint for its age. The pill or snuff box has No Splits. No Cracks, No Holes and it has No Repairs that I can find, the box stands straight, the decoration and definition is very crisp, the lid opens and closes with ease, the sterling silver hallmarks are still clearly legible although as this is a used antique trinket, pill or snuff box it does have some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use along with the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. Personally I think that this antique late Victorian trinket, pill or snuff box can still be used today and that it would make a superb addition to any cabinet collection, I also think that it looks absolutely fantastic considering that it's over 108 years old. Antique Sterling Silver Gold Gilted christening mug NICE ORNATE PIECE - LOOK!
Please look this mug over. As I bought it at an estate sale of an antique collector. There is no makers mark as I can see. However the design is ornate, flowers etc. The bottom has what seems to be an engraving of a flower, however it also looks like a star if that makes any sense. It has a light gold wash, and is sterling silver, and marked sterling at the bottom. I see similiar mugs on ebay with asking prices up into the thousands. Is this one? This is in nice condtion. Full size mug about the size and a little taller than an ordinary coffee mug, and weighs 115 grams. Shipping is free.

This buckle was dug in a camp site on a far hill back in the woods of Deatonsville Va. near the Saylors Creek battle field. Confederate buckles of this nature with thick silver gilt are rarely dug. Has about 40%silver gilt on the top face as seen in image. Top is made flat where most of the gilt is and the back has the nice round smooth basin with the iron hook. Has not been cleaned. Has outstanding green patina. This one is a little thicker then the others I have dug in the past. This will be a nice addition to any collection. These are some what rare buckles.
