Ornate Antique Gold Guilt Gesso Frame Beveled Mirror
This is a gorgeous. Antique, gold, gesso mirror that has been in my family for ages. The frame dates back to the 1880's according to my nana who passed it down to me. This piece has seen some wear and isn't perfect but, nothing that takes away from how gorgeous this piece is. I think any minor flaw just adds to the patina of the piece. The mirror itself is beveled and in beautiful condition for its age. There is hardly a scratch on it which is quite remarkable. The frame measures 20"x 20" and as you can see from the picture. This is an absolutely beautiful antique wall mirror with great detail on the mirror and the frame. The mirror is etched in an elegant floral deisgn with finely detailed mounting buttons. The wood frame has gold leaf accent paint and has intricate carving as well. This is in GREAT condition for it's age(cica 1920-30) and is made with very fine quality! Based on my research. The frame style is similar to the Rococo style and it may be French or Italian. The print in the rectangular portion is called"Boy with Rabbit" by Sir Henry Raeburn(1756– 1823) He painted the original artwork in 1814. I don’t know the exact age of the piece. It may be late 1800’s to early 1900’s. The frame has a couple of places where the gilt is missing. But the wood is in good shape. The print is wavy and appears to have a water stain above the rabbit’s ... moreears. The mirror itself is in good shape with just a few dark spots and no deep scratches. Ornate Antique Oval Picture Frame Cast Brass or Bronze Gold Baroque Wall Mirror
This cast brass picture frame has been converted from an easel back photo frame and to a mirror made to hang on the wall. The frame measures 11" by 9" across the outer rim with a 5" by 4" wide opening for the mirror. There is a metal plate on the back attached with four flat head screws and a wire that goes from each side to hang on the wall. This is not cast iron and metal is not magnetic. It is very heavy and metal feels cold. I have had this for many years and it looks very nice on the wall. You could remove the mirror if you wanted to use for a picture or photograph. GORGEOUS VINTAGE OVAL FRAME This is beautiful old ornate frame that we had a mirror made for it. Frame is made of wood with a beautiful gold gilt finish and an antique rub. Finish still looks beautiful with very little wear to the finish. I do not know if the ornate decoration is gesso or carved wood. It is hard to tell since it is painted. There is a few cracks here and there in the decoration due to age. But no missing pieces. Outer dimensions are approximately 21" x 25" with a 16" x 20" image area. As you can see from the back, we made it to where the mirror can easily be removed to use as a frame again. We did have to stick cardboard under the fasteners to give the mirror a tighter fit. The frame is a heavy white metal or spelter. The frame is footed and is ornately cast with scrolls and four paw feet. The frame is a golden color but I can see remnants of some silver. The frame measures a little over 11" in diameter and stands almost 2 1/2" in height off the table on four ornate scrolled feet. The mirror is a heavy plate glass with a cut edge and is very clear showing only a few light scratches from use. The frame is very ornate and there are no breaks. Antique Gesso Ornate Gold Frame For Mirror or Oil Painting
Here is a nice antique gold gesso mirror. It is meant to hang the wide way horizontal but you could also hang it vertically if you changed the wire on the back. It has the original wood slats on the back. These do not make it sturdy and it would need to be shored up by maybe replacing the wood with one sheet of wood to keep it sturdy. The gesso is in good shape for age. I've seen these in much worse condition because gesso can chip so easily You could also buy this just for the frame and put an oil painting in it. There are only a few spots where the gesso has chipped and I've tried to show them. They could be hidden with a little gold touch up paint. All original condition. It measures about 19 x 27" The mirror is also in good condition for age. Sometimes they have to be replaced. This one does have one spot that looks like ... morea circle with a little circle inside. I have pictured it in the next to last picture. I've put my finger pointing to it and my camera is in the picture. It is hard to find these old frames in good shape. There are plenty in badly repaired shape. They use them for mirrors. Or take out the mirror and use it as an artist frame.
