This is a vintage wall mirror. The frame is ornate gold Gesso carved wood. Glass is fairly typical for a vintage mirror(though clearer than average) Upper right corner of frame has a small piece missing(photo#6) That seems to be the only spot where some material is missing. There are cracks throughout the surface of the frame adding to its character. Though it hasn't affected the structural integrity. It feels very solid. Old 1920s or 1930s Ornate Gold Gild Carved Wood Overmantle 3 Panel Mirror
This is a beautiful. Stunning! we believe 1920s or 1930s, gold gild carved wood, overmantle three panel mirror. There are gorgeous reversed floral border etchings in all four corners and the top center of the mirrors. In each corner of the mirror panels there are nickel sized gold gild carved wood floral buttons. The overall condition of this piece is nice. But there are some small aged cracks in the wood, not noticeable unless up close, and not affecting the sturdiness or beauty of the piece.I did take the photos with flash to show the detail of the wood. So some of the pictures make the gold gild look newer and glossier than it really is. This mirror was purchased some time ago at a high end antique store in St. Augustine. Florida. We are pleased to offer this beautiful antique wall mirror. This unique mirror features an ELABORATE. Carved wood frame with foliage, large shell scrolls and a carved, beaded accent around the glass. The frame consists of 4 sections. The center frame around the glass and 3 hinged sections. The top section is arched with acorn/pineapple feature at the top of the carved foliage. The side sections are wide at the bottom and graduate toward their tops. They feature very large shells or"c" scrolls at the corners. These sections are hinged to fold back and lay flat against the mirror backing. The mirror is flat on the bottom and would be stunning over a mantel, entry table, etc. The frame is wood, not a composite. The carving of the side and top pieces is full bodied in that it is opened in a fretwork style. The framing around the glass ... moreis carved but solid. The wood has a gold gilded/painted finish which is old and this is not a newly painted piece. Beautiful! The mirror is in good condition with the beveled glass having only very minor areas of slight aging. The frame is also very good. The mirror backing has been replaced at some point with plywood and it is not original to the mirror. Some sealed the plywood with silicone but it can be scraped off easily if you chose to do so. The screw in hangers are vintage but not original and there is hanging wire attached to the hangers. The mirror measures as follows: When unfolded. The frame is 44" tall and 41.75" wide. It folds to a size of 33" tall and 22.5" wide. The glass is 25" tall and 16" wide. The frame measures just over an inch in thickness. This is a weighty piece. This listing is for an antique beveled glass wall mirror with gilt wood frame and wood back. It measures 19.5"x19.25" And the mirror is about 11.5"x11.5" I can't tell if the frame is carved or is Gesso, but it's really pretty. We've sold a lot of mirrors over the years, and this is probably the prettiest one we've had to date. I think it must be Gesso, and that the frame has been repainted. If you look at the last two photos, you can see where a small portion of the design is missing. No cracks or chips in the mirror, and no loss of the silvering. I absolutely love this mirror! I salvaged this in 2 pieces& it was completely falling apart. With a little TLC. My husband& I were able to bring it back to life: This mirror is probably around 100 years old or more! It is such a pretty ornate carved wood frame…not composite! Mirror glass has beveled edge. There are 2 small areas of the gesso detailing are missing. Mirror frame has been painted in layers of white& creamy white chalk paint. Slightly distressed to show original gold throughout and given a top coat of protective wax. Mirror has some aged glass and shows patina, but as expected with a piece this old! Mirror still has a nice reflection and is in very good condition! This mirror has so much Shabby& Cottage charm and is a definite decorator’s piece! Antique American / French Mirror Ornate Gesso on Carved Wood Gold Gilding 30x18
This mirror has what appears to be a slate back. The paper/cardboard backing was torn away by the estate sale organizer. I am leaving it as it is. Decorative carved wood with ornate gesso and gold gild finish. Overall in very good condition. There are minor nicks and scratches. See the last photo which shows a chipped off piece of gesso. The mirror has no scratches that I can see and gives a good. True reflection. The frame would benefit from cleaning to make the gilding shine. Large Antique Ornate Carved Wood White Gesso Leaning~Floor Beveled Mirror
I absolutely love this mirror! With a little TLC. My husband& I were able to bring it back to life: This mirror is probably around 100 years old or more! It is such a pretty ornate carved wood frame…not composite! Mirror glass has beveled edge. There are 2 small areas of the gesso detailing are missing. Mirror frame has been painted in layers of white& creamy white chalk paint. Slightly distressed to show original gold throughout and given a top coat of protective wax. Mirror has some aged glass and shows patina, but as expected with a piece this old! Mirror still has a nice reflection and is in very good condition!
