There is a note from the previous owner on the base. It tells you that this is"Saint Joseph from Silaloa Approximately 200 years old. Carved by Chinese Carver. The only part that needs to be changed is"Silaloa" which should be spelled. Sinaloa. This is a region in Mexico. The first known East Asians that immigrated were from the Philippines from the 16th to the early 19th centuries. This statue is probably from the 18th century. As expected there is wear and loss to the paint and some age splits in the wood. He stands at 14 3/4-inches tall. I buy from estate sales. Rummage sales, flea markets and auctions. I am Selling a Beautiful 19th Century Antique Rococo Wood carved Wall Mirror. The Mirror measures 41.5" tall by 1.5" wide and has a wonderful carved design on the top and bottom. Paint looks to be original to the frame and mirror looks to have been replaced several years ago, backing looks very old as well.
