Gorgeous Art Nouveau Antique Gold Toned Ormolu Vanity Mirror w Velveteen Base
Here for your consideration is a gorgeous Art Nouveau vanity mirror in beautiful condition. Fresh from the auction. This piece is gold toned ormolu open swirling vines and flowers. It has an unusual shape, I haven't seen one like it, the ends extend over the furniture to make the design open and even easier to enjoy. Even the wrap around gold tone edge is of a flower followed by 2 leaves, that it repeats all around the mirrors edge, photo 6. Even the inside edge is made up of 3 individual designs, very rich in appearance, 3rd photo. 18 7/8" long by 9 5/8" at the widest and 8 5/8" in the middle. 3/8" thick along the band. Design on the long ends protrudes 1 7/8" The velveteen is worn in spots but not loose from the backing, could be left as is or replaced with fresh as desired. I wouldn't hang this mirror on ... morethe wall for fear that the soulder could break and cause the piece to fall from the wall and break. It could be admired/used by placing it on a plate holder and stand on the vanity. If I were keeping it, I'd place the beautiful perfume bottles on part and put the jewelry I'd worn that day on the mirror until morning. I can find no makers marks. And while searching I found NO issues to report. The piece is in excellent condition, truly a joyful piece, and be proud of. The shape reminds me of the Fiddle back sewing machine my mother just bought for a small fortune. Pre packaged weight is 2 pounds 8 ounces. This 7 piece set includes a large vanity mirror tray, personal hand mirror, lidded glass jewelry box, 2 small perfume bottles, and 2 large perfume bottles. The large mirror and the personal mirror both have beveled glass mirrors. There are cameo centers throughout all of the perfume bottles. The large vanity mirror tray measures 23" long by 16 and 1/4" wide by 2 and 1/4" deep. The personal hand mirror measures 5" wide by 13 and 3/4" tall by 1/2" thick. The jewelry box measures 11 and 1/4" long by 5 and 1/4" wide by 3 and 3/4" tall. The small perfume bottle measures 7 and 3/4" tall by 3 and 1/4" across at the base. ... moreThe large perfume bottle measures 4 and 3/4" wide by 8" tall by 3" across at the base. The entire set weighs 12.8 pounds. There is one applicator wand broken on the one perfume bottle and there is one glass insert broken on another perfume bottle. The Perfume bottle and the jewelry casket each have a flower on top.The gold is probably not as bright as it once was, but that happens with age.
