Czech Jeweled & Gilted Bronze Ormulu Porcelain Vanity Box~Rose Swag~
TRADING TREASURES Antique Czechslovakian Jeweled Gilted Bronze& Porcelain Vanity Trinket Box~ c. 1920's This oval shaped Box is 3 1/4" high to the top of the gilted bronze finial which is attached with a screw. What gorgeous gilded bronze filligree work encases the sides and extends up onto the top! The inside rim around the box. And the bottom have not been glazed. The Lid is hard to measure. But is about 4 1/2" wide across the top and about 3 1/2" toward the bottom. This box is more beautiful than the pictures show. Divided into Three sections. The lid features polished green glass square jewels, individually set onto the bronze strip. In each alternating section. Gold bronze(ormulu) swags of roses decorate the top. There are also rose decorations applied on the bottom filligree that line up with the top decorative ... moreswags. Quite a lot of Detail Here.Amazing Craftmanship. Excellent Condition.very slight wear to the gold work. This is NOT White Metal. No chips. Or cracks. A very tiny bit of crazing on the inside. a couple of lines.no more. The number 2389 is incised on the bottom. The box strongly resembles French Sevres. We have had the box examined by an expert. And assured the box is of Czech/Bohemian Origin. The French rarely numbered their work, and practically never incised numbers. A 1 1/2" round spot on the base that is slightly a different color. Just trying to be as accurate as possible. As this rim has no contact with the powder box. Most likely this is how the lid left the factory, and the rough spots are not subsequent damage. The handle and outer rim are damage free. T he powder box is without damage- no chips or cracks. The inside and outside of the upper rim are damage free as is the bottom rim. There are no wear marks or scratches on the bottom. The inside of the powder box is clean free of residue. The gilded finish on the lid and powder box is 99% intact. T he stoppers with daubers are unbroken and free of damage- no chips or cracks. The perfume bottles are without damage- no chips or cracks. The insides and outsides of the top and bottom rims are without damage. The bottom rims have a slight rough feel to them. But that is how they left the factory and are not damaged. The insides of both perfume bottles are clean free of residue. The gilded finish on the stoppers and bottles is 99% intact.
