Antique Victorian Round Mirror Black Frame with Seashells 12 1/2", Gilt Edge
This is an antique round mirror with a black painted gesso frame and a gilt painted inner edge. It is 12 1/2" in diameter. The gesso is in good condition. None missing. Some seashells were added and probably are not original to the frame, but it makes for a decorative effect. The silvering is in fairly good condition and there is some gilt paint loss, but this is a very old mirror. It has wire and is ready to hang. I see one tiny knick on the inner left edge, near the mirror at about 10 o'clock. Great old dark patina on this wood. I'm guessing it has the sunlight hitting it on the right side for a hundred hears. This is made from one block of wood. No glue. The frame measures 11 1/2 inches diameter The mirror area is 6 inches diameter. The frame is 1 1/2 inches thick. The mirror is a replacement. The thumb tack was holding a string for hanging. This is a very nice antique make-up mirror. It is on a stand so it can be used on a dresser or vanity. It has a gold colored frame. It could be brass. But I'm not completely certain of the metal. It stands 13 1/2 inches tall. The mirror itself is round and is 8 inches in diameter. The mirror has two sides and can be flipped over to have either side at whatever angle is needed. This is a very sturdy item- it weighs almost 3 pounds. There are no markings on the bottom. So I'm not sure how old or where it was made. Nice antique victorian metal framed mirror. The mirror is in good shape. There is one slight discoloration in one corner.see next to last pic. Ornate frame is very nice. Not sure of the metal. But its a gold color. the mirror is beveled and has some"spider veins" in the mirror, doesn't detract from it. Pretty heavy piece. It measure 14.5 inches tall and 12 wide. I have a victorian home and had this hanging for many years, but husband wanted an antique coo coo clock and i replaced the mirror with a clock. So I have no place for it. Its a very nice piece and nice size to use anywhere since its small. Can be used in a bathroom or a small wall. For shipping i'm quoting the large flat rate, but this won't fit in that size box. The top of frame has carved feathers and has scrolling and flowers about ¼ around on each side and then again at the bottom. The frame is a beauty. This is a truly authentic piece and shows the signs of age. But would still look great in a powder room or anywhere instead of a piece of art.
