This ca. 1825-1845 solid mahogany tabernacle mirror features antique gilt accents. Ring turned half columns, and numerous acorn pendant finials. It measures 38 ¾” x 17 ¼” overall; 8 ¾” x 12 7/8” upper pane; 21 ¾” x 13” mirror. The varnished surface is absolutely original; some of the gilding has been over painted in the past. We offer a very beautiful Antique Empire Dressing Mirror. This piece has been in our collection for many years. The feet have the brass capped claw foot on them and everyone is present and secure. The side pieces that screw the mirror on the base have wooden centers with brass backs. They are very special. The finials are perfect as well and give this piece its crowning touch. The mirror is quite foged from age. And could be replaced. We have left it original for the next owner to decide. The piece was being stored and does need a good polish and cleaning. We took advantage of a clear evening when we shot the pictures last week as we had been having a lot of rain. The mirror frame is in very fine condition for a 19th century useful item. It could use some strenghtening on the one side back where the screw goes into the wood. Lovely old Ogee Mirror or frame found at an Estate Sale in Virginia in the 1980s. Maintained in my non-smoking home. This is the perfect size for over a small bathroom sink. In a hall by the coat tree to check your hat, or tucked anywhere. Actual size is approximately 18-3/4" x 22-3/8. The frame is deep, with three main parts. The mahogany veneer has lovely variations/flames. The piece can be used as a mirror. Or would be lovely as a frame for a period portrait. The frame is in lovely condition with only one small area of veneer loss. It came with a thick. Heavy mirror and a substantial solid wood back. The back was semi-secured, and when I removed the nails, I found an inscription, which is shown in one of the photos. The mirror has some slight(but age appropriate) silvering losses. Large Empire Period Flame Mahogany Veneered Wall Mirror Ca.1840-1850. This is from a family estate sale. The mirror is 21.25 inches wide and 24.25 long. It needs to be re-silvered there's a few scratches on the back of the glass and there is one small chip in the veneer. Usually this would be a huge deal breaker but it's just a small triangle piece the size of a nickel wide so it can be restored and you would never know or you can leave it as it is. it's not very noticeable, unless you're looking for flaws. The mirror, inside 8" wide by 10" high within frame measuring 12 1/4" by 14 1/4" Has a blocked border with a champfered back.very well made, probably circa 1840-1850. I'm sure the mirror has been replaced and there are a few small veneer chips missing, but this is a very desirable size and can be used both for both country or Victorian settings.it will polish well. Up for auction is an antique Empire Ogee mahogany frame with vintage antique 8x 10"+ mirror recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. It has losses to the veneer and losses to the mirror. It would have been a dresser mirror with the way it had side handles for swiveling for shaving. Brushing hair etc. There are losses to the mirror and it appears hand cut but we do not know if it was original to the frame but it is antique. It does retain its original wood backing shield cover. We are pleased to offer this beautiful. Ornate wall mirror. The mirror is carved mahogany wood with a dark, reddish brown and gilt finish. The frame is adorned with elaborate details in Empire style. There is an eagle perched on top. Vines, flowers and leaves cascade down the sides and there is a drapery accent present around the center opening. There are also accents of urns and"c scrolls" All of the carvings have deep dimensions and the frame is not flat. Some of the details have a gilded finish to contrast with the mahogany wood. The backing is mahogany. There is no glass on the frame. The frame is not marked. It is sectioned together as evidenced on the back profile. The backing is held on with metal holders and flat screws. This is a very beautiful frame. It is in very good condition with little evidence of age or use. There ... moreappears to have been some gluing to one of the sections on the back side.
