He felt the mirror is anywhere from the 1840s to 60s. The mirror came from an old farmhouse 18th century. Now the specs: The mirror is in excellent condition. NO veneers on the edges of the mirror missing. The solid mahogany bottom and swirled arms, again, all in good structural condition.NO breaks, NO repairs. I believe this mirror belonged to the old house from the beginning. The mirror is 56" high. early-mid 1800's antique furniture Civil War era MIRROR w/ MAHOGANY veneer
This early 19th century mirror measures 15" high x 13" wide and is made with two separate mahogany veneered frames. The inside frame having a nice beveled surface. The two frames are held together using square nails and the hanger on top is made of brass. Condition: a couple small nicks to veneer. The largest being 1/4" and located at top right corner; some bruises and small cracks on wooden frame but nothing distracting from its overall look; the brass hanger is original though it was moved at one time because it loosened up; mirror was replaced and shows some cloudiness. From 1903 comes this very unique and special. One of a kind, mirror.you have piece of tin, 18 x 18 inches, adorned with faces of what I believe to be famous people from the civil war era, it only gives last names of Sampson, Dewey and Hobson, plus a naval ship on the bottom that I can't make out as to its name.each figure is in the corners of this piece, while inset is a very old, cut glass beveled mirror, which measures 8 inches square.there are also 3 hooks in the corners.on the back there is a fiberboard like material, with 1903 and Howell& Brothers? it's hard to read though.this mirror is in GREAT condition overall.as you might imagine, the mirror has some slight imperfections.a true antique for sure. Hi again. this unusual mirror will come apart in 3 pieces to mail. all of the pieces snap together. well actually they more pin together. this is a very old mirror and has real silver as a backing to reflect the image. some of the silver has rubbed off over the decades. i like it just like it is. hang it on the wall. sit it on a table. it all folds up. you can even use it to display ... moresomething special if you make the mirror parallel to the table it sit on. display a favorite bit of jewelry or a few cameo broach pins on it. Just by making the mirror flat. the thick glass measures. 7 1/2 inches. by 7 1/2 inches square. the frame makes it 14 inches tall. 12 inches wide. the same support that holds the mirror standing up on the table. will fold up and hang the mirror on a wall nail. so it is a wonderful travel mirror for any lady or gentleman. the metal frame is made of brass colored metal. a magnet will stick to the frame. a real aesthetic look to this one. something an officer might have traveled with during his military career. i sold this once to an impossible lady who thought she was buying a new one in the box. she was wrong. From what I can find they were in business during the middle 1800s, so I'll assume this mirror is from that era. 1850's Agnew&Sons Civil war officers brass shaving mirror
I don't know a whole lot about this mirror but can give the information that was given to me. I purchased this at a very well know large antique store liquidation auction in Iowa as they are no longer in business. This is what is written on the back and how they presented it. They sold it as a 1850's Civil war officers Brass shaving mirror on the back it has written on an old piece of paper attached to it. Agnew&Sons Brass shaving Mirror circa 1850's manufactured in Philadelphia. PA. Whether this is correct or not I have no idea. It is a very old shaving mirror and is a very nice display piece.
