Vintage Antique Carved Wood Frame Beveled Glass Oval Mirror Pre-Mid Century
This is a beautiful mirror. You are bidding on an antique oval mirror. This has an oak wooden frame with a top crest of hand carved floral. I believe this is early 20th century. The mirror has a 1" bevel completely around the oval. The back is sealed with a 1/4" piece of wood not plywood. The last picture shows one of the dovetail joints in the frame. This frame was made from four separate pieces of oak which were joined together at those dovetails to make the complete frame. I think this is another sign of the age of this mirror. It has two holes through the front of the frame which were probably used for mounting. It also has one eyelet on the back which was also used for mounting. The second eyelet is gone. The winning bidder will have to develop their own mounting. The complete mirror and frame is 18-3/4" tall and 26" ... morewide. The mirror is 23" by 13-1/2" This is one of the classiest mirrors I have ever had for sale. Please don't email to ask if we would consider selling if for less. My wife really hates to part with it. Vintage gilded Italian Florentine frame in a large oval shape with carved border within a pierced and carved scrolling foliate frame. The frame looks like it was made to hold a mirror but we are selling it in its as found condition without a mirror. It can also hold a painting if this is how the new owner would like to use it. The way it was hanging originally is with the larger side in a horizontal position like seen in our first picture. This could change however. If one wishes to hang it vertically. This can also be seen in one of our pictures. The frame is constructed entirely out of wood which is gilded. This auction is for an antique mirror. It is oval in shape and measures approx. 25 by 31 inches. It has a gold liner and the frame has been painted black. There is some nice detail on the frame. I am uncertain of the age but can tell it is much older. Also quite heavy. There is some minor wear to the frame as can be scene in the photos. Thanks for looking. The mirror is perfect rectangle. I had to take the pictures angled due to the reflection. This is a nice sturdy heavy mirror. I would recommend a wall anchor when mounting on a wall.

This ca. 1845-1860 walnut on pine veneer frame is topped by deeply carved solid walnut crest and measures 38 ½” x 21 3/8” with 28 ¼” x 16 ½” reveal. It is constructed of 1 ½” thick wood and the entire frame appears to retain its original finish under a later coat of varnish. There are mounting holes on the side of the frame and you will note minor shrinkage cracks in the stable veneer which has no obvious loss. AWESOME ANTIQUE MIRROR-LONG OVAL WITH GOLD PAINTED WOOD CARVED FANCY SCALLOPED AND ETCHED DESIGN. I love this piece. And bought this 5 years ago at an antique shop in Waupaca. I removed all the old tape and rusty nails along with the old cardboard they used to use. Fortunately, this mirror has, as you an see, no flaws on the back it is perfect, not scratches or missing areas. The front reflects this perfection. I noticed a smuge or two that I did not yet remove, I can re do the photos along the way, but I wanted to list asap. This is about 2 1/2 feet long and 18 inches wide this is a guess and I will measure and edit this ad. All is origonal, the paint as well, I did not re touch any part of that frame. This is all original from glass to back, I simply replaced the old materials on the back with modern archival backing, framers points and ... moreacid free tape. I have not yet put the new wire on, I will do this tomorrow. I have 75 lb. test wire, this is heavy but I will weigh this and edit the ad along the way. This auction is for an older oval beveled edge mirror from Scotland that is a pretty good size mirror The frame on this mirror when you first look at it looks like a beautiful walnut or oak frame. There are many names for this type of frame. Some call it a Guilded frame. some a tourtoise shell frame. Some ceramic over wood and then some it composite over wood. Under any name, it's beautiful. It has a very pretty outside edge that looks like very pretty carving. The inside edge is a"bead trim" This is a true wall mirror, it did not come off a dresser. The clarity is good for it's age without any cloudiness. It has some small dark spots on the silvering and when viewed from the sides, you can see waves in the glass. I bought this mirror at an estate sale in Palos Verdes CA because I fell in love with it. I was told by the family that it was purchased at an antique store(somewhere in CA not sure exactly where) for $2000 which was half-price from its original asking price. I actually over collect furniture(no judgment! Don't look at my messy dining room table reflected in the mirror please! =) So. I've decided to sell it. The family didn't know much else about this piece. It's made of lightweight wood. Don't know the type of wood though. I can actually pick it up and move it myself. Not very heavy.
