Antique 1800's Nicolaus Amatus Amati Violin Beautiful Woods Playable Project
This auction is for a very well made copy of a Nicolo Amati violin that I am selling for a friend. I was told that this violin was played by a long past cousin around the turn of the last century. The top of this violin is very well grained with a few small areas that could use a touchup. The F holes show no edge damage. And retain their original shape. The back, ribs,and neck are all highly figured maple. The ribs show no problems at the lower edge at the chin rest. The Fingerboard is ebony, as are the tuners, and tailpiece, and nut. The sound post is in position, but may not be after shipping. The violin is also fully blocked. The finish appears to be oil over spirit varnish. The Label reads"Nicolaus Amatus Fecit in Cremona 1681" with the last two digits 81 penciled in. This violin is in well played condition needing some repair ... moreto three of the beaks as can be seen in the scans. There are also some grooves worn on the finger board from long play. The violin needs a good cleaning of a coat of ancient rosin, and a proper set up, as well as re attaching the nut in order to be playable. I am no expert, and don't know how to date this instrument, but there is a pouch from Carl Fischer on 6-8 Fourth Ave N.Y. 1898-99 that contains a number of gut strings, and an interesting example of an Aubert bridge showing a six pointed star above the name. I really wanted to keep this violin for my daughter who plays, but she has a few, and in this economy you can't have them all! THE ROSIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION. That my daughter wanted. The case is pretty much shot, but might be worth mentioning that at one time it appears to have been covered in leather. We are selling this early Washburn New Model Parlor Guitar"as is" It will need some repairs made but basically it is very sound and nothing that cannot be fixed. Issues: There is a 3 inch crack on the back on the upper right side. A 3 1/4 inch crack in the fretboard from 13 to 18, one place with missing binding, and some wear on the back of the neck. The original bridge has been replaced a long time ago with what I believe is a spider bridge. At the top of the guitar are the following numbers: 193390 and above that 111. Inside. This listing is for a n antique parlor guitar(c1910) I recent ly restored and set up for a friend. When I was finished. She very generously donated it to our ebay fundraising table. It wasn't in too bad shape when I received it, but I re-set the neck, repaired the bridge and a small shrinkage crack in the center of the back, and replaced the tuners, nut, and bridge pins. The neck is nice and flat, and the thin an tique fret wire is in very good condition. The action at the twelfth fret is only 2mm. Making this instrument very easy to play- excellent for olde time finger-style picking! The finish is worn, and certainly reflects its 100 plus years of age. Antique Hand Fan Carved Wood & Fabric w/ LITHOGRAPH WOMAN in WOODS - GERMAN?
This is an antique folding hand fan. It is made of wood with cloth. The wood portion has a pierced/carved floral and scroll inset design on some of the blades and the fabric is a very muted bluey/green color with a lithographed picture of a Woman in the Woods. The back of the fan has a handwritten inscription on it. unfortunately we can't make it out. It looks like it is perhaps German- I say this because one of the words has the two dots(umlaut) over the letter. No rips or tears. But some discoloration due to age. The blades of the fan measure 10-1/2 inches in length and when opened measures about 19-1/2 inches across. There is a small brass loop and an interesting little decorative screw holding the fan together. Condition is not perfect, but nice considering its age. Antique coin silver ladle from an estate. It is marked on the back B G Lion. W, Head or Profile. I believe this is manufactured by Jacob woods and retailed by Baldwin Gardner. From my research I came up with a date of 1834- 1839. It does have a monogram. Its approximately 7" in length. The bowl is approximately 2 9/16" wide. Total weight is 87.3 grams. I have not attempted to clean or polish this piece.

This antique native porcupine quill on birch bark was made in 1920. Skilfully made by either the Ojibway or Algonquin tribe, both located in the Lake of the Woods region of Ontario. Canada. It has a beautiful eight pointed star to the center of the lid. The coloring of the quills is particularly nice. With a light blue dye to the inner parts of the star. It is made in the traditional way. The box measures 3 ¼” in diameter and 2” tall. It is in very good antique condition, with minor breaks to the thread of both lid and body. Up for auction is my Mint Vintage set of Ladies Louise Suggs"LS" MacGregor 1.2,3,4 Wood Set, Circa 1955. The woods have been professionally sanded and refinished back to their natural persimmon wood appearance. New black nylon whipping has been added along with Avon Lamkin Chamois grips. The woods have never been played or even hit a single shot since being refinished, so they are in MINT condition. The shafts are the original True Temper"Century" steel. The driver has a small number, 615 on the sole just above the brass sole plate, and"LS" Louise Suggs initials and the name, MacGregor" appear on the brass sole plate. The"Louise Suggs" signature appears on the top of each club head, and there is a brass weight embedded on the back edge of each head. The club face inserts are attached with four ... morebrass screws, and four brass screws also attach the brass sole plate. This is a very rare and beautiful ladies 1,2,3,4 woods set which was built in the mid-1950's by the MacGregor Company, and the complete sets are extremely hard to find, especially in mint condition.
