This ca. 1825-1845 solid mahogany tabernacle mirror features antique gilt accents. Ring turned half columns, and numerous acorn pendant finials. It measures 38 ¾” x 17 ¼” overall; 8 ¾” x 12 7/8” upper pane; 21 ¾” x 13” mirror. The varnished surface is absolutely original; some of the gilding has been over painted in the past. The mirror pane has very bad silver in the bottom quadrant and is missing a base block/plinth. The turned half column base has come off but is present. It retains the original chamfered thin pine back and double brass knob hanging array. Its upper pane houses an original 1860/70s original Currier and Ives hand colored lithograph, A View On The Hudson” that replaces the earlier reverse painting. We offer a very beautiful Antique Empire Dressing Mirror. This piece has been in our collection for many years. The feet have the brass capped claw foot on them and everyone is present and secure. The side pieces that screw the mirror on the base have wooden centers with brass backs. They are very special. The finials are perfect as well and give this piece its crowning touch. The mirror is quite foged from age. And could be replaced. We have left it original for the next owner to decide. The piece was being stored and does need a good polish and cleaning. We took advantage of a clear evening when we shot the pictures last week as we had been having a lot of rain. The mirror frame is in very fine condition for a 19th century useful item. It could use some strenghtening on the one side back where the screw goes into the wood. The mirror front does have age cracks in the burled wood from shrinkage over time and age. With all this being said we are selling the mirror As Is due to its Antiquity. It is one of those rare pieces from the Empire period that we are lucky to even find in any condition. There are surely little nicks and dings from over 165 years ofr use. But from the look of this mirror the finish is very good, the Mirror is ready to place and display. The mirror frame stands 65" tall by 26 1/4" wide at the base. Lovely old Ogee Mirror or frame found at an Estate Sale in Virginia in the 1980s. Maintained in my non-smoking home. This is the perfect size for over a small bathroom sink. In a hall by the coat tree to check your hat, or tucked anywhere. Actual size is approximately 18-3/4" x 22-3/8. The frame is deep, with three main parts. The mahogany veneer has lovely variations/flames. The piece can be used as a mirror. Or would be lovely as a frame for a period portrait. The frame is in lovely condition with only one small area of veneer loss. It came with a thick. Heavy mirror and a substantial solid wood back. The back was semi-secured, and when I removed the nails, I found an inscription, which is shown in one of the photos. The mirror has some slight(but age appropriate) silvering losses. Hi. I'm offering this rare Federal mirror, possibly made in Boston. The mirror dates from the early 19th century, circa 1800-1825. The design is bold and unusual with 4 girandole-type balls. One in each corner. The mirror has a hefty rope twist placed in a deep cove with 4 small acanthus leaves in each corner. The condition of the gilding is very pleasing. The original surface is evenly worn yet the mirror retains its splendor. Much of the burnished water gilding is still present. The mirror glass is a later 19th century replacement. Antique Small Wood & Gesso Blue-Green Empire Framed Mirror
If you have Shabby Chic décor. This mirror would make a perfect and charming addition. This mirror is 21 ½”h x 14”w total including the gesso frame. As noted by the pictures. The mirror is quite oxidized with the wear appearing from the back. The tarnish on the mirror is due to the mirror’s age(100 + years old) It has its original rough hewn wooden backing with original wire and hardware to hang. This mirror has been painted several times and you can see that the detail is not crisp and clean. Since this is not the original finish. You could strip it or keep as is without losing value! There are several chips on the paint in the frame. Please note these by the pictures presented. The beading detail around the mirror is cracked in a couple of places.

An antique. Empire period, wooden mirror with mahogany veneer and wooden back.good size. The mirror, inside 8" wide by 10" high within frame measuring 12 1/4" by 14 1/4" Has a blocked border with a champfered back.very well made, probably circa 1840-1850. I'm sure the mirror has been replaced and there are a few small veneer chips missing, but this is a very desirable size and can be used both for both country or Victorian settings.it will polish well. I have never seen such a spectacular mirror! This is a true antique. Measures 8 1/2" tall oval mirror is approx. 4 1/2" x 3 1/4" All original stones are in tact. Original glass could use some resilvering in spots but no cracks. Gilding shows a little wear and patina appropriate to its age. Nothing that detracts. Up for auction is an antique Empire Ogee mahogany frame with vintage antique 8x 10"+ mirror recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. It has losses to the veneer and losses to the mirror. It would have been a dresser mirror with the way it had side handles for swiveling for shaving. Brushing hair etc. There are losses to the mirror and it appears hand cut but we do not know if it was original to the frame but it is antique. It does retain its original wood backing shield cover. This is a very old gorgeous ogee flame mahogany mirror from the 1800s in very good condition with some wood chips to veneer and cracks as seen in pictures which is typical for age. The mirror weighs 16.6 pounds approximately and measures 46.5" x 28.5" The mirror contained it's original glass which can be a marker of its age. Pre-Victorian Antique Mirror with Landscape Painting, Empire or Federal
I'm not quite the antique expert-but I know Pennsylvania antiques when I see them. I suspect this is an 1800-1850 period Empire-Federal style mirror with folkish painting above the mirror of two houses-probably an owner proud of his acquired property and weath. Look carefully at the construction in the photos. Mirror looks original-ish but original might have been beveled. The really interesting part is the painting. Obviously having personal symbolism. Note the brass hanger-original? Consruction techniques show handwork I'm familiar with. Note columns on each side of the mirror. I'd be happy to hear from bidders who know more about this piece than I do. Wood appears to be walnut. US sales only. Weighs about 15 pounds. Must be well packed and shipped of course. Beautiful powder jar with a gorgeous brass lid that is embellished with purple jewels and filigree. The inside of the lid is marked Empire Art Gold E& JB. The jar measures 5 inches in diameter and 6 inches high with the lid. There is one jewel missing on the lid as shown in the second picture. The mirror is 9 inches long and has the same purple jewels. Only a few black specks of mirror loss visible. It looks to be made of a lacquered mahogany wood( The wood frame has a few slight marks but no deep knicks. The backing on this mirror will need some TLC. A few small pieces of wood are missing near the top and there is water stain damage near the bottom.
