ANTIQUE BLACK FOREST CARVED MIRROR WITH ACORNS AND OAK LEAVES.
Up for auction is a beautifully carved antique Black Forest mirror with beveled edge from the early 1900's. The frame has branches with oak leaves and acorns that wrap around a nice mirror. This piece has fabulous detail. The only flaws that I see with this piece is a small dark spot or discoloration on the left side of the mirror(I tried to get a picture of it, but doesn't show up very well) and four small holes on the back with a round mark(You can see in the last two pictures that show the back of the mirror. It might have had a leg on the back at one time so you could also display the mirror on a shelf which is were these marks might have came from, not sure. Cast iron frame FLOATING mirror beveled edge vtg wall decor antique black metal
This piece has a cast iron or wrought iron frame that would hang on the wall and the beveled edge mirror fits within the frame. The mirror would rather“float” between the iron frame. It has two decorative hinge type connectors that would secure the mirror. I am not a very“handy” type person and I cannot get the mirror inside this frame. It seems too wide. But I know that is just because I do not know how to secure it. This mirror definitely goes with this frame, so it has to fit. I know a“handy” type person could get it secured. If you are"unhandy. like me, you get 2 cool separate pieces! The frame is a cast iron or wrought iron black metal piece in very good condition– no rust– very good condition. The metal has a twisted ribbon like look. I have yet to find any maker’s mark on this piece. But it could be that I do not know where to ... morelook. Due to the design– a maker’s mark could be hidden. The mirror has a thick rough or scalloped type beveled edge. I was going to say no chips. But on closer I think there may possibly be a chip in one of the scallops. Rather hard to tell due to the decorative cut at the edges of the mirror. Also. As you can see, the silver or mercury backing has worn off in several places. It is an old piece. Exact age unknown– I do not know if this is an older vintage piece. As more of a 1950's Mid Century Modern, or if it is old antique– I assume collectors can tell by the mirror cut and the frame style- Size: The metal frame measures approx 12 3/4ths inches in length. The center cut-out measures approx 6 1/4 by 4 1/8th inches. The mirror measures approx 5 3/4ths by 3 5/8ths inches. It is approx 1/4 inch thick at the edges. Condition: The cast iron frame still looks very good. As you can see. The back of the mirror shows much wear. As stated above, the mirror has a thick rough beveled edge and it is difficult to tell, but there may be a chip on one of the scalloped edges. Antique 1870s BLACK FOREST Relief Carved Eagle Top Wood Frame OAK WALL MIRROR
I have up for sale a rare and beautiful vintage circa 1860s- 1880s Black Forest hand carved Hanging Wall Mirror. I believe that the frame is made of Oak- its relief carved with a bird. Possibly an Eagle on top. The bird has a glass eye and the talons are fixed on to a log. It measures approx 26-1/2" measured from the tip of the wing to the bottom of the vertical section of the frame,its approx 17-1/4" wide. The bird itself protrudes outward just over 4" The glass mirror itself measures approx 16-1/4" x 9" The frame is in very nice estate fresh as found condition. I am quite sure that the finish is the old original. Regardless it looks wonderful. It has a nice warm patina and recessed areas have darker coloration. Overall the frame is in Great Condition- other than some wear/small chip to the end tip of the birds beak ... morethe wood is in fantastic shape. Wear is light, the frame was well taken care of. The glass mirror is excellent- no silvering issues- no damages. I see that the bird is attached with 2 screws in the back. When I package it. I will take if off and package it separately. Antique Victorian Round Mirror Black Frame with Seashells 12 1/2", Gilt Edge
This is an antique round mirror with a black painted gesso frame and a gilt painted inner edge. It is 12 1/2" in diameter. The gesso is in good condition. None missing. Some seashells were added and probably are not original to the frame, but it makes for a decorative effect. The silvering is in fairly good condition and there is some gilt paint loss, but this is a very old mirror. It has wire and is ready to hang. Antique / Vintage Black Walnut Bar Mirror
I have an antique or vintage black walnut( I believe) bar mirror. I was told that it is black walnut by the auctioneer. But I'm no wood expert so I can't be sure. I picked this bar mirror up at an antique auction sale that had a beautiful antique solid walnut bar for sale that came from a bar in S.E. Michigan. I didn't get the bar, but I did get the mirror. This mirror is very large and very old. The oxidation on the backside and the great patina on the front will give you an idea on the age of this piece. Looks like late 1800's or early 1900's. The mirror is beveled and the wood is carved on the front. The measurements are 47 inches wide by 36 inches tall. This mirror is very heavy. This auction is for an antique mirror. It is oval in shape and measures approx. 25 by 31 inches. It has a gold liner and the frame has been painted black. There is some nice detail on the frame. I am uncertain of the age but can tell it is much older. Also quite heavy. There is some minor wear to the frame as can be scene in the photos. Thanks for looking. The mirror is perfect rectangle. Please read all details. This is old. The little white speckles in photos are dust and or paint. It has not been cleaned in any way. THIS IS NOT PLASTER. Guaranteed! Dates to the 1800's. Up for bids this very spectacular mirror dating from the mid 19th century. This piece is so gorgeous. I just can't tell you how gorgeous and heavy this piece is in person.I hope my photos will do it justice but I feel it's much more beautiful in person. This mirror& frame dates to around the 1860's-1880's. We do believe the piece is all original and has never been re-silvered or touched up in any way. The bevel around the mirror is amazing and the silver almost completely in tact. The size is fantastic. It measures just over 17" long by 13 1/2" wide. Most of the pieces like this were made in small frames.Daguerreotype frames, ... moreor hand mirrors. Nothing this large. It's just rare to see anything like this. More common was the vanity or mourning items, The subject matter is so out there and detailed. Two nudes on the top of the frame. They really resemble mermaids rather than nude humans. Each side of the frame is slightly different in the detail as if it was carved. At the base is a winged Cherub or Putti. On the sides are cornucopias. The perimeter of the frame has many facets. Not a straight cut, please see photos. I'm not sure what this is made of. It is very heavy. It is either Gutta Percha or Bois Durci. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. Wonderful late 1800's hand carved wall shelf with mirror. Made from SOLID OAK with two American Eagles. One at the top crest and one holding up the display shelf. The piece is in totally in original condition with its fumed oak patina with normal wear to the finish. All the carvings appear to be in great shape with one small chip off the larger eagles right wing. Not noticeable. Both eagles have glass eyes. This piece really makes a statement in a room!
