Up for auction is this exceptional 19C Walnut and gesso mirror. This is truly a rare find. Mirror measures a large 56 5/8" l x 33 3/8" h x 2" d. It has a three panel wood back. We put a sturdy wire across the back to hang. Of course. This mirror could be mounted either vertical or horizontal. Just an exquisite design with oak leaves and acorns. A stately work of art. Beautiful attention to delicate detail. A rich appearance while being understated. So many large mirrors I have found are either too plain or tend to be- well- a bit garish! This is a nice balance of beauty and great workmanship. As it dates to the 19C, it is not perfect and should not be. There is some cracking in the gesso and a little professional restoration during its lifetime, so please look at the pictures carefully. The total size of the mirror measures 15 inches high and 12 inches wide. The bevel mirror itself is 7 inches wide and 8 1/4 inches high with a wonderful French blue and heavy bronze ormalu. The French blue is vivid. Not washed(looks that way in picture) out, the flash from my camera does it no justice. THIS IS A MOST BEAUTIFUL CURLY MAPLE MIRROR- is bird's eye maple the same? The photos show the richness of this wood. I believe this was made in the 1890's or the very early 1900's. The glass is ORIGINAL. Which is important to a collector. Size: 22.5" x 11.5" Condition: The mirror is in very good condition. There are no cracks. No breakage. Looking at the mirror. The top of the right side is loose- doesn't show in the photos. The border on the top- is somewhat loose. This shows in the photos. This is a very collectible item. The curly maple or bird's eye maple that I see on this sight and on other sights does not have the richness in the wood. The beautiful color of the wood. Please see all photos. Only USA please. Antique 19C. Original Federal Carved Mahogany Wall Mirror #2
Click photos for larger image! Description& Condition: Up for sale is this antique circa 1840 Federal carved mahogany 2 part wall mirror. It is all original including backboard and mirrors. It has carved half columns with brass rosettes at the top and reeded columns at the bottom. It measures 36" tall by 18" wide at the top. It is in good all original condition with some minor loss to the original silvering on both mirrors and a small sliver of wood on upper right top board.
