The piece is triangular in shape. The panel depicts a nicely carved fancy coat-of-arms crest with scrolls and vine design. The upper section has dentil molding while the lower section have a fancy carved molded base. This piece could very well have an historical connection. VICTORIAN ERA WALNUT BRASS HANDLE COAL HOD / SCOOP Exc Condition View Pictures!
I purchased this at an estate sale of a collector of antiques& vintage items. I had never seen one before& didn't exactly know what it was. I understand that this is a"Hod" to hold coal for early fireplaces or stoves. I am selling the item"as is" But it appears to be in GREAT CONDITION, considering it's age. The outside shows it's age& has some darkening on the sides. dents in along the side edges on the front(please view the pictures) however front& the top look very appealing to me. The handle handle appears to be brass. But needs polishing. The interior chamber is in tact& the metal holder has no holes or rust marks. The shovel is brass with a wooden handle. The shovel has some small dents from use and appears to have had some repair to the back at the edge of the shovel. The handle is ... morewooden& in great condition. Where to begin.beveled trim all along the bottom including around to the side views.huge, acanthus scrolled, corbel brackets at each end. flower medallions at the bottom of each corbel. smaller, segmented, carved corbel in the middle.2 beveled framed recessed panels.incredible carved ribbons/swags/bows on a textured background. dentil molding below the beveled top board. They simply do not come much nicer than this beauty! This monster measures almost 901/4 inches long, 16 5/8 inches tall, and 10 1/2 inches deep. It weighs about 60LBS. Antique turn-of-the-century Victorian walnut fireplace mantel
Offered for sale is this ornate wooden mantelpiece c.1890. The intricate carving and turning will make this an impressive addition to your building project or restoration! Note the beveled mirror in the overmantel. The conditio n of the wood in this mantel is excellent– the finish will need some refurbishment as there are what look like runs in the varnish and paint drips on the top shelf(only) and the person who painted the last room that it was in wasn’t too careful about cutting in around it. The patina is beautiful. B ut if you like a shabby chic look. Or would enjoy spending a little time working on the finish, the dings on this 125 year old mantle are absolutely minimal. I have tried with the pictures that are included to show whatever imperfections there are. But overall the condition, design, proportions and quality of the craftsmanship ... moreof this piece are outstanding! The piece is signed on the back with the name"Webb" The dimensions are: Height: 80” 6’8” Width 60 ½” 5’0 ½” Depth 9” Height to mantel shelf 52” 4’6” I'm making and educated guess as to what type of wood the mantelpiece is made of based on the grain and color. It may also be mahogany. But I can't guarantee what it actually is. VICTORIAN WALNUT FIRE SCREEN adjustable hight with Needel point
Very beautiful Victorian firescreen in a very nice condition. Firescreen has no damage and neededl point has normal aging issue. Because of glass covering on the needelpoint the photos of the needelpoint do not come out right. I am assuming this is Walnut but I can be wrong. A lot of carving and detail. It is about 5 ft x 2 ft

Circa 1880s. Salvaged, architectural antique. High quality, solid, walnut construction. Classic, Eastlake, spoon carved design across the front. 4 cannonball finials hanging below. Ribbed side brackets. Top board has a beveled edge on front and sides. 2 spool, spindle rails with more cannonball finials on top. This is a substantial Victorian antique measuring 46 5/8 inches long, about 13 inches tall, and 8 1/4 inches deep.
