Outstanding 19th century antique solid bronze Revolutionary War Hessian soldier fireplace andirons in excellent condition. Original patina with forged iron support legs. These measure 20" tall x 9" wide at the feet and weigh over 40 pounds. The bronze Soldiers are up to 2" thick at the widest point. Support legs are 18" long and have some expected and customary extremely light surface rust. One leg has an ever so slight twist from heat mentioned only for the sake of accuracy. Dolphins / dragons Andirons Bradley and Hubbard 14" solid bronze / brass
Here are a pair. of solid bronze/brass dolphins cast for making a pair of ANDIRON's for a fire place. We are more inclined to believe they are bronze being they never have corroded after hanging on our bathroom wall for over 35 years. To clarify them. The picture to the far right are a pair of"cast iron" andiron's that sold on ebay last week for around $413 delivered. These two that we have after close examination are the exact same casting only in bronze/brass without the brackets to put the legs on them that go out the back to hold the logs in your fireplace. We bought these over 35 years ago to use them as decorative pieces to hang in our bathroom as you see not knowing just what they were for. This auction is for a Pair of solid bronze Hessian soldier andirons best victorian- they have bronze legs as well. They are 19.25" tall. 19" deep as seen. In very good shape- some paint splatter on them, will need to be cleaned off. Each weighs 30lbs. There are no markings on these that I can find as far as manufacturer, Thank you. Antique elegant impressive set of aged andirons that would make a beautiful statement in any large fireplace. Could possibly be from France. Original patina finish. They stand 15 inches high and the bases are 7 inches. The iron arms that hold the logs are 15 inches in length. We can not find any markings.
