PAIR OF CAST IRON SAD IRONS ~ STAR EMBLEM#6 PRIMITIVE ANTIQUE ~ One iron is marked with the Star emblem#6. The second iron is only marked with the#6. These two irons are a wonderful example of antique cast iron SAD IRONS. These irons are in excellent condition. It appears that they've been painted black along the way. Probably when someone rethired these to bookend status! These are great pieces because they can be used as bookends, doorstops, presses, or even just for display. The bigger of the two irons weighs approximately 5 lb.12 oz. It has a 6(or 9) in a raised number in the cast iron. It stands 6" at it's tallest. It measures just short of 4" wide. When resting on the flat iron side. It measures appromimately 5" tall. The slightly smaller iron weighs approximately 4 lb.10 oz. It has a 6(or 9) in a raised number ... morein the cast iron. And also, the STAR emblem(looks like an asterisk) too. It stands just over 6" at it's tallest. It measures just short of 4" wide. When resting on the flat iron side, it measures approximately 4-1/2" tall. These SAD IRONS have maintained a beautiful black cast iron luster and appear to have been refinished for display purposes. There is visible wear on the brackets holding the handles. See photos for a closer look at the condition. I think you'll like what you observe. These are very nice antique irons.

This is a pair of andirons or fire place end irons. They are polished brass,almost 22" tall they are 21.75" tall 15.50" from front to back and the front 2 legs are 8" from foot to foot, they do have some vintage marks,see pictures, have not tried to polish them, they are my Uncles whom has had them for 35 years and they were a gift from his mother in law from her antique store in the carolinas so who knows how old they are, would look great in any fire place, feel free to ask any questions thank you for looking
