Antique Union Company kerosene heater for heating up hand held metal irons
Antique Union Company kerosene heater for heating irons. This cool old metal stove which was used to heat up the cast iron ironers used in during the turn of the century. This stove is about 9.5 inches tall. 6.5 inches wide, and 4 inches deep. It has a tank for holding the kerosene and uses a 3.75 inch wide wicK(still intact inside the stove) Knob on side of the stove regulates the length of the wick. When lit, the flame's heat rises and heats the iron resting on top of the platform. Fairly nice decal logo from the“Union” company adorns the front of the kerosene tank. There is an access hole on the back left corner of the tank which is plugged with a piece of cork(not sure but do not think the cork is original.probably used some sort of metal cap or plug. It had one real purpose in life and that was to heat the clothes ironers used for pressing the family laundry. They were made with 1,2, and 3 burners. This is obviously a one burner. When electricity was introduced into homes, the electric iron replaced need for the heaters. Just about every housewife had one. Patent dates seem to range from about 1865 to 1901. The large wicks were meant to concentrate a large amount of heat in a small area to heat the irons quickly. Overall the unit is in fair to good condition, shown a fair amount of corrosion to the surface, blackening from heat, and dings and dents. Appears to be usable, but has not been tested. Sold in as described condition, with no implied or expressed warranties of any kind.

Up for grabs is a vintage set of Ping Rail Karsten III Black Dot Irons 3 thru Wedge. These are older clubs. But I took them to the range and they hit very nice. These are an early to mid 80's club and are in good condition with a lot of play left in them. Ping is one of the great names in Golf and these clubs were built well. All of the heads have the usual wear and are not free of scratches from the bag and normal play. The grooves are all still pretty good and there are no deep gouges in any of the clubs. I have a separate picture of the 3. 8& 9, as they all had some weighted tape on the back of the head. I did my best to clean them off, but there is still some residue from the tape being on there so long. It doesn't affect the play of the clubs at all. They take special grips, very fat butt shaft ends. All the hosels except one read"tour" but I can't see any difference in the iron offset, shape, or size, looks like a fit to me, maybe that's their way of marking them. Overall good shape. Free ship. Cleaning out my mother's estate. Offering 2 Metal Curling irons- like the ones on Downton Abbey TV series. They are meant to be heated on a stove and then used on the hair for waves. Curls. Both have been well used. Two sizes- One large, one small. Large one measures 9 1/2 inches and has Green Wooden Handles. Smaller size measures 6 inches in length and has Brown Wooden Handles. Larger of the two makes about a 3 inch wave(about 2 1/4 inch around barrel) Smaller makes 2 inch wave(also has a smaller barrel- about 6/8 inch around) Could find no manufacturing source marks on either. The larger one is in great shape and spring works well. The smaller one still has a spring, but does not completely spring closed.

For sale is a full set of nine(the six and nine are used as one) metal and brass/copper Branding type irons. These solid tools are about 11 1/4" long and the numbers around 2 3/4" tall. Each of the handles has stamped" O.M. FRANKLIN SERUM CO. and all are intact. They do have rust. Wear, and a bit of dirt and grunge. The brass/copper numbers do have areas of green from age and do show some kind of use. There is an adjustment/ tightening bolt on all but I did not attempt to turn any of them.
