This is an early 20th C. pair of andirons. Tools, stand, and matching fender in the Arts& Crafts style. They are hand forged iron with shield, scroll, knife blade, and faceted ball motifs. Handwork is visible on every surface. I cannot attribute the set, and I can find no maker's mark. They do depict the medieval Arts and Crafts style, and quality, of the works of Arden and the Rose Valley Association, during that time period. If I had a fireplace in my home, these would not be for sale. This set is meant for a larger fireplace. So please check the measurements. The fender is 51.5"W, 10.5"H, and 12.75"D. The andirons are 20.5"H, 11.5"W, 21.5"D(13 lbs. each) The stand is 33.5"H, 12.5"W, and 8.25"D. The poker is 30.5"L, and the shovel is 28"L. There are areas where the original ... moreblack finish is missing and there are some specs of white paint. The andiron returns, and the remaining finish on the fender, indicate long term appropriate use in a fire place, but they are both strong and entirely usable. The finish could be restored if desired, and there are no repairs needed. We vacuumed the set with a brush attachment, but we careful to preserve the patina. It is rare that a complete Arts and Crafts antique fireplace set remains intact and together as this one has! This fine example of the skill and talent of the artisans of that time can be showcased on your hearth today. Included in this substantial handcrafted set is the fireplace screen. Andirons, tool holder with four tools and log holder/carrier with handle. In each piece the heavy yet intricate scrollwork and the artistic twist of the metal is repeated. The squirrels in the andiron design will be enjoying the acorn they hold to their mouths. The blacksmith who forged these squirrels has them perched with their famous bushy tails in full display. Very imaginative! The fireplace screen has handles on either side for ease of moving it. It is well-balanced with the scrolled feet projecting 5-inches forward and the stabilizers projecting 5-inches ... moreback. The screen is a heavy mesh and good condition for its age. There is one tiny disruption in the mesh as shown in the photo. The original blacksmith burnt oil finish still fills in a few openings in the mesh as shown in the photo. The log holder/carrier has scrolled edges and is supported on scrolled feet and the handle is movable. The tool holder is well-balanced and holds the brush. Shovel, poker and tong. A welded repair has been made to the shovel to support the metal which had fatigued over many decades of use. They are hand forged and thus not identical in size or shape. The larger of the two measures 12-3/4" tall x 8-3/4" wide at the feet with a 12-3/4" long log rest. set of 19c ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE HAND FORGED BLACKSMITH FIREPLACE ANDIRONS FIRE DOGS in as found condition. these were bought at an estate sale from an civil war era house and farm near Gettysburg battlefield in Pennsylvania.new owner may wish to refinish/restore these at own discretion. I personally like the natural original patina.they are dusty,dirty,crusty and rusty but very solid and very heavy-duty and are ready for FIRE DOG duty as is. they both measure 17" tall x 24" long x 10" wide and weigh 12 pounds each. the balls( which i believe to be civil war cannon balls) are 3 1/2" in diameter. these are a great period set of andirons that would look great in your home or museum. Antique Early 1800's Federal Era Hand-Forged Brass and Cast Iron Andirons
These Antique Hand Forged Brass Cast Iron Andirons date to the early 1800's in a Federal Period Blacksmith shop. They have spurred cabriole legs and slipper feet that are hollow in back; the feet and plinth. The brass dressed cast iron billet bar with log stops, and the beehive/acorn/lemon steeple are typical of the Boston craftsmen in that period. They have the knobby baluster and pencil thin-stripe from top to bottom on both sides that date them to the 1820's era. In that era. Andirons were made by half casting the brass and brazing the parts together with a brazing material that left the thin line. The craftsmen changed the brazing material in about 1830. The supporting iron rod is hand forged and the thread at the upper end where the top screws on was crudely cut by hand with a file. See Pic#4 and#5. The 3 1/2" slab of brass ... moredressing at the front of the each plinth(log holder) is not marked but it does add to their authenticity and beauty. Their condition is excellent vintage with a nice patina and no dents or dings. One is just a little less tight on the rod. They stand a little more than 17" tall and the log holder is 15" in depth and 4 1/2" from the floor. They weigh about 14 pounds.

They are hand forged very solid in super condition I have not cleaned or done anything to them the gold tone rustic look is beautiful they measure 30.5" High x 15" wide x 24.5" deep. These are hard to find not many of these made signed works by Jan Barboglio are very sought after. Hand Forged: Antique Fireplace Andirons. From 1920's house.
These are large fireplace andirons. Heavy and original. They measure 20" deep, 15" tall, and 12" wide(each piece) They are completely hand forged, and they are in excellent condition. They could stand to be repainted as some of the paint is worn just a bit. If you zoom in you can see the paint; they are really quite nice. I worked as a contractor for 36 years in Portland. Oregon. These came out of one of my many transactions. These are solid and very heavy. I will ship them FedX. or USPS. Whichever I find more affordable. SPECTACULAR Antique Hand Forged Wrought Iron Fireplace Tool Set - FINE QUALITY
Don't know exactly how old this set is but I purchased a cast iron log basket dated 1920 from the same estate that had nothing but fine items. I was surprised not to find a makers mark on this set but the quality speaks for itself. A very skilled blacksmith was obviously involved. The brass ball tops are screwed on. The condition is excellent. No significant rust or signs of use/abuse. Very classy and ornate.

Full horse figures appear to be crudely cut from quarter inch iron and were painted black. Each piece weighs approx. 6 pounds. Some light surface rust as well as some paint loss. I do not know the age of these andirons.

Fireplace trammel,Old Antique, 35" to 57" long,Hand Forged, Great for Barbeques
This trammel is so awesome. I have never seen one this big! We acquired it at an estate sale here in Massachusetts. It is hand made by a blacksmith and is good and heavy. The bar with the holes on it is 1 1/8" wide! It has 6 holes so you can adjust the height that you want to hang a kettle on. If the trammel is in the first hole it is 35" long and if it is in the lowest hole it is 57" long! Great for a big huge fireplace or an outside barbeque. You could hang different items in the holes with S hooks too. What a great find! One of a kind.

Antique Hand Forged Iron Firedogs Andirons - prob. 1700s early 1800s primitive
I found these at a museum quality auction and fell in love because of their irregular handwork. Called firedogs or andirons these are hand forged probably late 1700s or early 1800s. Some blacksmiths played around with the tops making them appear to be the head of a dog and with the wide'stance' of the front legs they appeared to be an animal hence the name'firedogs' These have a square finishing off the front. They are irregular insofar as one leans a little making it just a little shorter than its mate- it is also just a little wider across its feet. Measurement on this one is: 13 1/2" Tall X 7 1/2" Wide X 11" front to back. The straighter one is: 14 1/2" Tall X 6 1/2" Wide X 11" front to back. They are. However, even on the log rests which are about 5" off the floor. They are clean but ... morethere is pitting and just a light amount of surface rust- I have wiped them down and personally like their look just as they are. Make sure you look at all the pictures so that you can see all the evidence of the handwork and their irregularities. I love great primitives such as these that show evidence of the maker's handwork. Shipping will be calculated for you as these are not lightweight pieces.
