While leaning on a draped pedestal. Believed to have been made around the time of the centennial of the United States. These have excellent casting and appear to have original log holders. As you can see. They were originally painted an ecru or off white, and the paint has worn from age and use. The painted wear/ flaking is exactly as it should be from andirons that have been used. The paint on George’s head is much more worn, which is which is where you would expect it to be from the fire’s flames. There is also some surface rust/corrosion indicative of age and use. I see no structural damage, chips, cracks or repairs and I believe they could easily be restored to their former glory if you so desire. Approx. measurements are 21 3/4" tall. 9 1/4" wide and 15" deep. I see no marks as to maker or foundry. Really a wonderful set of antique cast iron andirons. Vintage items are a piece of history and always in style. Offering styles and construction that cannot be duplicated today. Buying vintage is a wonderful way to contribute to"going green" by recycling pieces from the past. ~Please note~ Most of my pictures are taken with a magnifying lens giving me clear. Close up photos. Up for sale: A wonderful pair of early 1800's George Washington cast iron andirons. The fronts have a gold or yellow paint on them; I don't know if this is original or was added later. They are in good condition and were definitely used over the years. There is rust as well as ash buildup present. Each measures approximately 15 3/4" in length. 14 1/2" in height and 7 3/4" in width. PAIR SET OF ANTIQUE CAST IRON GEORGE WASHINGTON ANDIRONS COMPLETE FIGURAL
Here is a set of antique cast iron George Washington andirons. Complete with log holders. The front figural piece is 20 inches tall, and 9.25 inches wide at the base. Thickness varies from 1 1/8" at the base to 1/2" at the top. The log supports attach to the front uprights by sliding into a bracket; they extend 17.5 inches to the rear. There is some erosion of the brackets so that the log supports do not fit tightly and will need a shim if they are put to use in a fireplace. I have carefully cleaned off surface rust and dirt on the uprights(wire brushed) There was no evidence of any former paint. The set has no cracks or breakage. There are small holes in the area below the back bracket which may have been for pins to anchor the log supports. This is definitely a very old set judging from the wear and patina. Up for sale is this beautiful pair of Virginia Metalcrafters cast iron George Washington andirons with VMC log racks. This pair has the original paint on them. On the back of George Washington is the authentic VMC mark along with 1020. Both log racks has the authentic VMC mark as well. The log racks slide into the back of George Washington by a tapered dovetail design. They stand approx. 14 1/2 inches tall. The log racks measure approx. 15 1/2 inches long and 3/4 inch thick. It appears that they were never used. The paint is in excellent condition on both. The pair weigh approx. 26 lbs. for everything. There are some green spots on the back and on the sleeve(ref. pictures) We're unsure what this is. ANTIQUE CAST IRON GEORGE WASHINGTON ON PEDESTAL ANDIRONS ~ 19 1/2" T Being offered is this pair of antique cast iron andirons depicting George Washington standing on a pedestal. These large andirons measures 19 1/2" in height x 8 1/2" wide at the base and the log holders are 15 1/2" long. The condition is good with no breaks, cracks or repairs, they have been repainted. They are marked with the number 1022 on the backs along with the factory trademark that we can't make out, please see photos, the log holders are marked 1021-22 along with the trademark. nice very old find vintage cast iron George Washington andirons Very Ornate fairly distressed but still pretty solid condition has fair amount of rust/paint loss w/some corrosion around base of feet-no cracks or breaks that I can see please ck pics for better description needs good sandblasting/repaint will make nice pair measures appr 15 1/2in ht appr 10 1/4 in w@base appr 19in deep not sure if I can detach for shipping may be shipped in one piece if any cheaper on shipping I will refund any difference good luck thx for looking
