I have reduced the starting prices on all my items as I need the space and they must go. Good Luck This auction is for a lovely original Bronze fire fender. This is French and is dated about 1860/1880 Napoleon III(late victorian) There item is in good condition and complete. Normal signs of use over the several decades. It is not"plated" Cast iron or spelter(regule) It is adjustable and will fit from 91cm to 78 cm with a bit of thought. It may go down to about 66cm(please ask for details if you want to use it less than 78cm and I will try to explain the way it would adjust this small) This is priced to start at a low figure. for sale a wonderful pair of antique french bronze chenets or andirons that have cherubs or putties sitting on the side of each. One playing a banjo, the other blowing a choice of two trumpets. of course the blackamore putties add additional charm and beauty to these french bronzes. the castings are nicely done on this set of chenets and they are large being almost 17 inches tall and about 8.5 inches wide. the extensions to support the wood holding grates are 12 inches or so. these pieces can be removed and either shorter or longer pieces can be substituted. that portion of the andiron is pretty insignificant as far as value goes. at any rate, a great pair of chenets that are nicely cast with exceptional carvings all over them and great putties along side. if you search ebay you will not find any that have a better look. the nicer ones listed ... moreare priced way up into the thousands, like 12-15,000 maybe more. some of the less desirable are priced like in the 2-3,000.00 range. i am going to start these at what i have in them from a long time ago. i don't need them and have several sets, of which i only use 2. i have stuff piled up everywhere and need to dispose of some things so i can get thru the house without tripping over a bunch of stuff. they have good weight to them but can be wrapped and packed well and sent via usps, ups, or fed ex for probably 40 or 50 bucks. good luck. I have for auction this sensationally opulent pair of genuine Napoléon 111 bronze Andirons. They date to C1870s, they are actually Andiron fronts, because the L shaped back supports are missing, these would have been made of iron, because they would have be closest to the open fire, I do not see this as a great problem, they can be easilly replaced and it will certainly have reduced the shipping cost dramatically for you. I have not cleaned the bronze, it is exactly as they were found on the antique market here in the South of France, I understand that some dealers do not like their metalware cleaned, so I have left them with their original wonderful patina and as we say here in France"dans son jus" in their original state, but with cleaning, I imagine they will become much brighter, the choice is yours! For sale: We had this chenet for a long time in the family but my mother wants to sale it as we need to downsize our French Antiques. It came from a castle in France- Chateau de Longueville. His owners had financial difficulties and they had to sell all their belongings. It has been bought by my grand-grandmother and stayed in the family since then. My parents moved to USA in 1978 and brought it with them. Usually. You put a chenet in front of a fireplace but we always had it on the mantel for not damaging it. So this nice chenet is in bronze. Here we have a pair of vintage andirons. I found these near the fire place at an estate sale. In a very old building. I have been told that these are from around 1900. I was also told that these are French Antique Gilt Bronze Andirons. They measure approx 13" high. I did not clean them. They are dusty and dirty, but with the proper cleaning, they can look really good. They do not have the cross bars. Some other Ebay sellers have these same andirons up for acution at $165 to $275. Crafted from cast bronze elements that have been either patinated or mercury gilded with matte and burnished gilding all original. The form consists of a pair of cast bronze pedestals surmounted by a guilded urn. The pedestals are decorated at with“deuce” of decorative fish. All these elements each cast separately for detail and drama.
