Description: Item up for auction is a vintage pair of andirons in the shape of painted Hessian soldiers. Each"soldier" is 16" in height. 8" side to side and 1-3/4" front to back(not measuring metal support)Metal support is 16" in length. There is no chipping or cracks on the andirons. Gorgeous Cherry fireplace surround & mantel circa 1900, mirror intact & included
This mantel was salvaged from a mansion in northern NJ that was demolished to make way for a commercial building. Old house was completed in 1909 so fireplace dates from about 1907-1908. In nearly perfect condition. This mantel has wonderful character and detailing befitting it's origins. Solid wood and hand finished, this piece belongs in a restored older home with high ceilings. Overall dimensions are 7'4" high; just over 5' wide; Opening is just shy of 3'3"h X 3'6"w. Mirror above mantel is intact and in good condition with slight shading. Mantel itself sits about 4'8" from the base with the mirror and frame above it. Top right side of frame needs about a 3" piece of dentil molding replaced. Antique Bradley and Hubbard andirons bronze/brass circa 1890/1900
Up for auction is a very unique pair of Bradley and Hubbard andirons. These beautiful antique andirons were an estate find in South Carolina low country. They are made or brass or bronze except for the leg part where the log goes that is cast iron. The entire front including the handle is made of the same material brass or bronze.I can see a few places where the shiny metal shows thru as shown in the pictures. I do not want to remove the beautiful patina. The top part is hollow and you can turn the top finial and unscrew it. I only turned it slightly for the photo but it appears to be in 4 separate pieces. These are both in great condition and I do not see any damage or repairs. I have not been able to find any just like it in my research. They are both stamped Bradley and Hubbard mfg co 12.
