DETAILS* These are a Lovely pair of Cahill Ironworks cast iron andirons with bronze and brass finish. They are is hand hammered. They are marked Cahill in diamond pattern and also have the number 82 on the back. I ... morebelieve the ANDIRONS are circa 1900, super Mission or Art& Crafts design, beautiful. Iron Cross like pattern decorates the base and moveable decorative handle of each piece. Cahills Architectural Brass and Iron Works was an ironwork's company out of Chattanooga, Tn. which was in operation from 1875 to 1922. They are 18 1/2 tall and 9.50" wide. Total depth is 19" with log holders. The top point and handles are brass finished, they contrast nicely against the bronze finish of the body, beautiful. The log holders are attached with bolt, will remove for packing. They will need to be reattached when you receive them. Easy to do. Finish shows light wear considering their age would consider condition very good, no rust on decorative piece's. Log holders do have light rust from use. Dolphins / dragons Andirons Bradley and Hubbard 14" solid bronze / brass
Here are a pair. of solid bronze/brass dolphins cast for making a pair of ANDIRON's for a fire place. We are more inclined to believe they are bronze being they never have corroded after hanging on our bathroom wall for over 35 years. To clarify them. The picture to the far right are a pair of"cast iron" andiron's that sold on ebay last week for around $413 delivered. These two that we have after close examination are the exact same casting only in bronze/brass without the brackets to put the legs on them that go out the back to hold the logs in your fireplace. We bought these over 35 years ago to use them as decorative pieces to hang in our bathroom as you see not knowing just what they were for. The owners of the"cast iron ones said they were made by Bradley and Hubbard and were considered antique in age. Pair of Antique 19th C Brass Bronze Patinated Art Nouveau Fireplace Andirons
Up for sale is an antique decorative art nouveau brass or bronze pair of miniature fireplace andirons recently found at auction in the suburban Phialdelphia PA area. The brass or bronze front are heavily patinated and very stylish. They do not attract a magnet. The back of the andirons are made of iron and do attract a magnet. They could be cleaned or left in their present patinated state. The backings are loose but the original hardware is there so they could be tightened. They measure approx. 6 1/4" side by 8" tall and 15" long. The other condition issue is one of the tops is folded over more than the other and is a bit different. Dolphin Bronze Brass and Iron Andirons 14.5 inches tall. This a pair of antique Dolphin Andirons. They have never been cleaned and measure 14.5 inches tall by 9.5 inches wide and 12.5 deep. I'm not sure exactly the metal but they probably date to late 1800s or early 1900s. They are in great condition except the the vertical"leg" piece on the very back right one has become detached and is taped on as in the photo. It will stand up fine without this piece. It could be left off. Welded back on, or left or left like I have it with tape or glue.

Antique Bradley and Hubbard andirons bronze/brass circa 1890/1900
Up for auction is a very unique pair of Bradley and Hubbard andirons. These beautiful antique andirons were an estate find in South Carolina low country. They are made or brass or bronze except for the leg part where the log goes that is cast iron. The entire front including the handle is made of the same material brass or bronze.I can see a few places where the shiny metal shows thru as shown in the pictures. I do not want to remove the beautiful patina. The top part is hollow and you can turn the top finial and unscrew it. I only turned it slightly for the photo but it appears to be in 4 separate pieces. These are both in great condition and I do not see any damage or repairs. I have not been able to find any just like it in my research. They are both stamped Bradley and Hubbard mfg co 12. This is a stunning antique 19th century large gold gilded bronze fireplace fender. it has beautiful ornate solid bronze stylized lion head feet on the corners. the fencing of the fender is extremely detailed with pierced cross-like design and very ornate. the bottom edge of the fender is a nicely ribbed bronze rail. there is also a rounded top rail that runs around the whole top edge. it has a wonderful patina from age and measures 42 3/4 inches long by 9 inches tall by 13 1/4 inches back to front. it is a very large fender and in good antique shape. Has minimal ware and ready for another 100 years of service. It consists of three pieces- height of the end pieces is 18-1/2" by 11" wide- center piece is about 33" wide- overall width can go from 36" wide to 50" wide. It is in good condition- has been polished but still retains a deep rich patina. There is a North Wind? face on the center piece and lions heads going down to a paw foot on each andiron. He kept the nicest pieces over the years from being scrapped. These have been in storage 50 years at least. They have not been cleaned. Nice castings. Each section is 4" wide. Approx 1/2" thick. Put together. The width of the overall surround is 28" wide by, 30 1/8" tall. There were some ornamental pieces that hooked the corners together. What they were I have no idea. I do not have them. The cast panels can be removed. They are held into the frames with back pieces that are screwed in. There are machined/threaded holes in the front on the edges, one hole goes into the panel a little(it is hshown as a close up picture) Not perfectly straight. Gorgeous ANTIQUE Fireplace Fender / Surround - Circa 19th Century - Bronze/Brass
This is a wonderful antique FIREPLACE FENDER with unique features. On each side of the fender is a circular. Concaved and relief plate depicting the face of a woman. We believe this to be a 19th century creation and possibly older. Amazing details with ball finials and an intricately carved base. The scroll work throughout is beautiful. A lot of skill and effort clearly went into making this piece. This fender came from the Minor Hill estate in McLean. Virginia. If you google Minor Hill, you will see that this is an 18th century house owned by George Minor, Sr and Jr in the early days. This is also the house where Dolley Madison is believed to have hid during her flight to and from Washington, DC during the War of 1812. There was a recent estate sale at this location where everything had to go in preparation for its upcoming sale. The second ... moreto last photo is how the fireplace fender was found at the sale. We have cleaned it up using soap and water. The last photo is of the historic house itself. Excerpt from an online site: This house may have been where Dolley Madison stayed for two nights before returning to Washington. Located at the intersection of Virginia Avenue and North Nottingham Street in McLean, Virginia, the original house was reportedly constructed of logs as early as 1730. In 1770, George Minor, Sr. purchased the property and added a wing to the existing house. George Minor and his first wife, Ann, had seven children. The eldest, George Minor, Jr. inherited the house and occupied it during the War of 1812. George Jr. served as Lieutenant Colonel of the Virginia Militia 60th Regiment and was called to the defense of the capital; however, administrative delays prevented him from reaching Bladensburg in time for the battle. Beautiful& Rare Antique Bronze Andirons. Handmade and Forged together. Early American dating around 1800. Measuring about 17 1/2" tall, 8 1/2" wide at base, 15 1/2" front to back. Fronts are solid bronze and Log bars are iron. Has small makers defect, where the iron back bar attaches to bronze bass, one is attached under and other is attached over(has no effect to structure& can not be seen from front) Since they are hand forged together at that spot, this small defect can not be fixed. PLEASE NOTE- We do not ship internationally at all- sorry Up for consideration is a great pair of finely detailed antique fireplace set of andirons. Some information state these are Rococo in the style of Louis XV. These are very ornate and have a unique design and detail. they stand just over 16 inches about 10 inches at base and about 18 inches front front to back portion( which goes into fireplace) they weight over 7 lbs each They are bronze. Brass no marking. These appear to be in very good condition based on their age. One may wish to clean and polish however the way they look now may leave some history behind on these two great pieces. Great conversation pieces that would grace your fireplace in a formal living room and or a family room.
