Peck Stow& Wilcox Company I found these great Owl Andirons in my 94-year-old father’s estate. They’ve been in my family for as long as I can recall. I remember as a boy staring at the yellow glass eyes as the fire lit them from behind. These very beautiful(and very heavy. Each one almost 7 pounds) Perched Owl Andirons are in amazing condition. There are NO breaks, cracks or signs or past repairs. The yellow glass eyes look just like new, and the light of the fire makes them glow like the owl is alive! It is rare to find all four glass eyes in PERFECT condition; there are no cracks. Chips or scratches on the eyes. The Owl measures 15.5’ tall and is 9.75” wide at the base. The firedog(the piece that the logs rest ... moreon) measures 14.75” long. One of the firedogs is missing. They sell replacement firedogs at fireplace shops and it simply slides into a track on the back side of the andiron. The markings on the inside of each andiron are P S& W Co. There are two other markings a‘G’ and‘S’ stacked over one another to the left of the company stamp. These are matching antique Andirons. Each weighing 5lbs3oz and are just over 16inches tall. There are no identifiable stampings or markings. The bow in the pictures is held in place with a nut and bolt. There is no bending, dents, dings, rust etc. What I know about them: These were given to me in a box after me Grandmother passed away a few years ago, she was 92 and collected or saved her antiques. The box was stowed away in the garage and hadn't seen the light of day in over 60 years I'm told. My Grandparents owned/operated a bed and breakfast in a small Northern California town they took over for my Grandfathers parents when they passed it on. After my Grandfather passed away in 1954, my Grandmother packed up, sold the business and moved away. I don't know anything about antiques so I cannot provide any info as to their maker ... moreor year made. I've been encouraged to have them appraised, I've been told they have value but each antique dealer near me charges $35 just to appraise. I'm hoping to sell them to a person who'll appreciate them and maybe even display their antique beauty in their own home. Thanks for looking!

Here we have a wonderful pair of vintage brass claw and ball spur leg Chippendale style fireplace andirons or firedogs for holding your firewood this winter. In very good vintage condition. Nice older brass. Cast iron holders. Measures 21 inches high by 17 1/2 inches long by 11 inches wide at the widest point. These would look really great in a federal style room. Or even in a cabin. These could be polished up if you wish to a bright shine or left as they are with the older patina on them. Brass pieces are marked 195. Have ball and claw feet and spurs. The cast iron log holders say 185 L and 185 R. In very good condition for their age. These are just the right thing to give your room a wonderful vintage look and feel.
