Originally a famous spur-maker Maxwell thrived on the ubiquitous use of the horse for battle. Ceremony, hunting, sport and personal transport, and ultimately supplied boots for cavalry regiments, hunting, polo etc. By the mid 19th century the firm was prospering internationally and was awarded the first of its many Royal Warrants by King George IV. By the early 20th century, before the horse was superseded by motorized transport, Henry Maxwell had grown dramatically and supplied boots, shoes and a wide range of riding and hunting accessories from shops in London and Paris. In the 20th century the firm absorbed Faulkner& Son and traded successfully from 8& 9 Dover Street. Off Piccadilly, and latterly from South Audley Street. In 1999, the business moved to 83 Jermyn Street, the home of its sister company Foster& Son. Where it continues to prosper in the same private ownership. In other words, I did it for you. This carrier is right out of someone’s smokehouse. And it comes complete with cobwebs, estate dirt, and everything else associated with old, undisturbed, primitive things. It is big! The box part is 25 ½” by 10 ¾” at the top edge. It is 4 ½” deep. The total height to the top of the handle is 6 ½” So we’re talking about a large tote. Weight = 5 ½ lbs. I managed to get two or three pictures before almost freezing to death. And I know who’s to blame. It’s the person who invented the chill factor. I knew it was 3° outside, but my smart phone said it“felt like” 10° below zero. We didn’t have all this“wind-chill factor” horse pucky back when I was a pup. We looked at the thermometer, and if it said it was 3°, we knew to bundle up. Estate Find- Here is an original old shaving mirror. It mearsures 14.25" across by 18.5" high. It is made of wood with ornate carvings at the top center and bottom corners. It also has an all wood backing with an old wire hanger. Due to age the mirror has black markings. Streaks and a couple of defects in the glass but no cracks or chips. This gives it character and shows its age. The frame has some paint loss but overall it is solid. It makes for a nice primitive piece that is totally original with no restorations or touch ups. This is a beautiful older piece from a recent estate. There were photos in the house of the owner's great-grandmother standing in front of this stand. Measures 77" high x 33" wide x 11" deep. Small Shabby 23"x15" Antique Art Nouveau Gesso & Wood Petite Gold Gilt Mirror
Original early century art nouveau frame which measures 23" high and 14-5/8" wide in good strong condition over-all. As can be seen in the close-up photos of the top. There is a separation in the gesso(and this could be an over-lay of carved wood rather than gesso- can't tell for sure as the finish is adhering quite well and this separation does not weaken or compromise the integrity of the mirror- it's still retains its strength) The mirror, when seen from the bottom looking up, is a bit wavy. It may be and probably is the original mirror. As can be seen on the back there was moisture on the finish piece and the mirror is not affected by this. The wire on the back is doubled and old. but looks like it will serve its intended purpose for some time to come.

Vintage Antique Carved Wood Frame Beveled Glass Oval Mirror Pre-Mid Century
This is a beautiful mirror. You are bidding on an antique oval mirror. This has an oak wooden frame with a top crest of hand carved floral. I believe this is early 20th century. The mirror has a 1" bevel completely around the oval. The back is sealed with a 1/4" piece of wood not plywood. The last picture shows one of the dovetail joints in the frame. This frame was made from four separate pieces of oak which were joined together at those dovetails to make the complete frame. I think this is another sign of the age of this mirror. It has two holes through the front of the frame which were probably used for mounting. It also has one eyelet on the back which was also used for mounting. The second eyelet is gone. The winning bidder will have to develop their own mounting. The complete mirror and frame is 18-3/4" tall and 26" ... morewide. This is a lovely older mirror. It has a beveled edge and a very nice craved piece at the top. Not sure if it's wood or gesso. It has wood backing. The bottom decorative piece is missing and there are a couple of cracks in the top part. A few spots on the mirror as you can see in the pics. Over all it is in good condition for it's age. ANTIQUE MEDITERRANEAN GESSO GILDED ORNATE WOOD 19 CENTURY 13O YEAR OLD MIRROR Up for your consideration is this really nice antique mediterranean style gesso gilded ornate wood frame 19th century 130 year old mirror. FEATURES:Made out of wood with a gesso(plaster) Mediterranean leafing style design on the top"handle" and the very bottom part of this 130 year old mirror. The handle looks like the leaves are coming together to form a wreath. And the shape is an almost kidney shape where the middle curves in. Along the rest of the frame it is somewhat contoured with several fine lines, or ridges. The back has the origianal cardboard liner, but the vast majority of the paper backing/cover is gone. The only thing that remains is along the outer edges. There are several different types of nails that hold this mirror into the frame, some ... morelook like they come from at least 3 different time periods. There are signs on this that just can't be"faked" or duplicated without the passage of many many decades of time and looks very aged. There is an eyelet screw on each side of the mirror with 4 thin braided cords attached for hanging. By looking at this, it looks like the handle was handcarved out of wood, as it looks very primitive with no uniformity, even the two back support wedges that hold the handle onto the mirror are very different in size. ADD. INFO: Based on the way this mirror was made. You can pretty much be sure- there were not a lot of these made. I finally decided to part with my great aunt's antique heavy ornate wall mirror. Antique Gold Leaf Wood& Gesso Wall Mirror. This mirror is just gorgeous and has been well maintained. The glass is in good condition.no chips. No cracks, no hairlines etc. The mirror needs to be cleaned. I have limited space, and that's why I'm selling it. There is a small water damage on one corner at the top right but when it's hanging the wall- no one can't tell. One corner of the mirror the same top right- a portion of wood approximately 1/2" x 1/2" wood came off. My mom. One time, when the gold was oxidized from age, had it restored with new gold leaf sheets. It hangs on the wall with wire which is intact. Antique 1870s BLACK FOREST Relief Carved Eagle Top Wood Frame OAK WALL MIRROR
I have up for sale a rare and beautiful vintage circa 1860s- 1880s Black Forest hand carved Hanging Wall Mirror. I believe that the frame is made of Oak- its relief carved with a bird. Possibly an Eagle on top. The bird has a glass eye and the talons are fixed on to a log. It measures approx 26-1/2" measured from the tip of the wing to the bottom of the vertical section of the frame,its approx 17-1/4" wide. The bird itself protrudes outward just over 4" The glass mirror itself measures approx 16-1/4" x 9" The frame is in very nice estate fresh as found condition. I am quite sure that the finish is the old original. Regardless it looks wonderful. It has a nice warm patina and recessed areas have darker coloration. Overall the frame is in Great Condition- other than some wear/small chip to the end tip of the birds beak ... morethe wood is in fantastic shape. Wear is light, the frame was well taken care of. The glass mirror is excellent- no silvering issues- no damages. I see that the bird is attached with 2 screws in the back. When I package it. I will take if off and package it separately. PLEASE HOLD OFF MAKING PAYMENT UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED MY INVOICE. You are looking at a uniquely shaped antique gilded wood framed mirror. This mirror measures about 8.5" x 15" It is by no means in new condition. The frame is warped and had cracked long ago. It has old staples on the back(both left& right side of the frame) keeping the frame intact(see photos) The remainder of the wood frame seems to be in pretty good shape. The mirror has a lot of scuffs and scratches. The old paper on the back is all but gone and the cardboard on the back looks moldy. Even with all those flaws. It's still a very unique antique mirror.

ANTIQUE C 1850 GILT GOLD WOOD ENGLISH REGENCY CONVEX ROUND WALL MIRROR 21+"
IT'S ENGLISH. IT'S OLD, IT'S RARE, IT'S COOL, IT HOLDS IT OWN. This piece has it all going on. A true antique that fits right in today with contemporary designs. It is in untouched. Original condition with some gilt missing from the corvetto balls that dot the surround. Features an ebonized reeded slip at the rim of the convex mirror. There is a little black paint missing there also. The mirror has a couple of age spots but no major damage or fogging. The original metal link chain graces the reverse. There is an egg and dart motif on the four corners. A couple of the balls are a little loose but would only be noticed upon super close inspection. They are not going anywhere as they are well attached. Measures 21 3/8" wide x 2" deep. SHIPPING Local pick-up is preferred in Newport Beach. The frame has a detail pattern of flowers and leaves and is finished in antique gold. It is wood with a veneer. The mirror is in excellent vintage condition with no blemishes on the mirror. I have three mirrors that are matching. They purportedly came out of oldest barber shop in Dodge City. The scroll in the upper corners are hand carved. The 1" bys that frame the mirrors are 3/4 x 4-3/4's. One x Fives? I mention this as a possible way to date the mirrrors. Also is a picture of one screw head. There is green paint under the top coat of tan paint. This sale is for local pick-up only. I will not ship. Victorian Antique Wall Mirror- long, hanging, silverbacked. Wood & plaster. P/U
Beautiful antique wall mirror. Most likely Victorian though I wouldn't really date this as much older than the early turn of the century. It's about 54" wide and 19" tall from the highest point of the decoration in the center. It has 3 mirrored panes and it looks to be silverbacked. There is very faint tarnishing taking place underneath which you can see. But I think it adds to the patina. Looks great. There's also a very small mark on the glass in the middle pane near the edge, not very noticeable. It's made of wood with an ornate plaster front and top decoration of a shell. The left bottom corner has a small chip in the plaster. This mirror is in great shape for its age. It's very heavy and has a wire string in the back for hanging. I usually see these mirrors selling for $150-200 in antique stores but I'm ... moremoving and looking to sell some of my items. I can meet in VA Beach or around Williamsburg.
