The face of the shelf is fluted and supported by 4 Eastlake brackets. There are spindles between the pair of brackets supported by another turned spindle with a carved bracket below. The legs and breast are loaded with spoon carvings. It measures 53 inches wide by 47 inches tall and is 10 inches deep at the shelf. The opening is 29 wide by 35 inches tall. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. One foot was missing but we duplicated it in antique walnut. A beautiful antique walnut fireplace mantel. Dating from the late 1800’s. The mantel features dentil trim around the top, with turned spindles and a backboard ornamented with stylized quatrefoils. The mantel legs are ornamented with a carved flower and a bead-and-reel panel design. Description This is a great fireplace mantel that was salvaged from a Philadelphia. PA Victorian home. It is made of walnut and is currently painted white. The shelf is trimmed in reel and bead and dentil molding. It is supported by 2 carved corbels. There are 2 turned columns below each corbel with bracketed feet at the bottom. The breast has a large curved fluted molding and a row of buttons. It measures 54 inches long by 46 tall and is 1025 inches deep. The firebox is 33 wide by 30 tall. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. The shelf needs glued or nailed down. Please see the pictures carefully. Ref: 61318 Shipping. Marvelous antique walnut mantel. Found in a home in New Orleans and dating from the 1880's. The fireplace mantel is crowned with a projecting shelf accented with carved foliate and bead-and-reel detailing; three inset panels sit below the shelf. Grooved brackets flank the firebox and curve downwards to meet stylized Corinthian columns. The base of each mantel leg features chamfered edges, scalloped carving and grooved bands. This mantel is in very good antique condition, and has been stained a rich brown. The mantel measures approx. 60-1/8” wide, 48” tall, and 12-3/4” deep; the firebox opening is approx. 35-3/4” wide and 36-1/4” tall. Offered for sale is this ornate wooden mantelpiece c.1890. The intricate carving and turning will make this an impressive addition to your building project or restoration! Note the beveled mirror in the overmantel. The conditio n of the wood in this mantel is excellent– the finish will need some refurbishment as there are what look like runs in the varnish and paint drips on the top shelf(only) and the person who painted the last room that it was in wasn’t too careful about cutting in around it. The patina is beautiful. B ut if you like a shabby chic look. Or would enjoy spending a little time working on the finish, the dings on this 125 year old mantle are absolutely minimal. I have tried with the pictures that are included to show whatever imperfections there are. Description This is a nice piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian home. It is made of walnut and is currently painted. The shelf is trimmed in reel and bead molding and is supported by 2 corbels with carved acanthus leaves. There are fluted. Tapered columns below the corbels. The breast has a raised center panel. There are three carved sections on the breast. There is a label on the back from manufacturer JK Kammerer. Germantown Ave, Philadelphia 1893. It measures 49.75 inches wide by 48 inches tall and is 11 inches deep. The firebox measures 42 inches wide by 36 inches tall. Overall it is in good co ndition.
