This BEAUTIFUL miniature Lane cedar chest is from the 1930's. It still has the key. There is a dent and some scratches on the left side and some scratches where the key has been turned over the years. Other than that the chest is in excellent condition and has beautiful grain pattern. It was made in Altavista. Virginia and was presented by or displayed at Glenn's Furniture& Hardware Co. It still has original tag on bottom. Antique Wood Chest Small Trunk Fabric Covered Worcester Metal Goods Co. Lock Key
The box measures 15.5" x 8.5" x 7.5" and is in good condition for its age. I do not know the maker of the box but the hardware is made by Worcester Metal Goods Co. It is very sturdy and the hinges are holding up well. The fabric is very soft but I am not sure what material it is. It is tearing at some of the edges but is mostly intact. It looks like only one nail is missing and I think it just held the fabric in the corner in place. All of the rivets for the hardware are original and intact. The lock is a little tight but it works well and has the key. The inside feels similar to wallpaper and has some wear and discoloring but is in pretty good shape. Feel free to ask questions. Vintage Antique Wooden flat top steamer trunk. It measures more than 34" in length by just over 18" wide and a little more than 21" height and weighs almost 35 lbs. This MidCentury trunk is a stained with dark mahogany stain color and is very sturdy and usable. The Corners are coupled with heavy aluminum edges. and there are typical dings and dents. Scratches and scuffs due to age and use. There is little to no musty smell, at least is not saturated with odor/scent- will spray with Apple Cider vinegar to help neutralize naturally. Not sure of what type of wood- but there are additional carved wood bumpers on outer sides this Shabby Cottage Chic piece~ This trunk is antique and old- and has original small cast-steel wheels. All 4 are present and rolls fine. One hinge that is strong and holds up fine. There is wear and age to the outer shell. The old black leather finish could benefit from some good black paste shoe polish? And there are some deeper gouges on the backside of the trunk as shown. The brass lock does not have a key. It is turned into a position so it can not close. Both the brass lock and the latches are marked Eagle Lock Co. The inside is canvas lined and as you can see in the photo's there are lots of stains and wear. No offensive odors. The thick layered leather handles are separating, as shown. Large French Antique Wood Trunk for Amidon Starch ~ Original Alexis Fedor Ad
Delighted to discover this large and very rare antique French wooden storage trunk/box. Circa 1910. The wooden trunk was originally used for the selling and storing of pouches/bags of powdered clothing starch by the starch manufacturer, Amidon Hoffman. The interior of the lid has the original advertising label across the full lid interior. Rare to find the label in such very good condition! The trunk would have been displayed open by the shop owner for customers to select their bag of starch. The brand logo of a cat(which to the French is a symbol of cleanliness) is marked"Cat" and was a trademark filed in Apr. 8, 1876. The design was by Alexis Fedor(1832-1911) who was an illustrator of children's books. Fedor was particularly fond of drawings of animals; his favorite animal was the cat. THIS AUCTION IS FOR A NICE BLANKET CHEST. THIS WAS MY NEIGHBORS GRANDMOTHER'S CHEST. SO I BELIEVE IT TO BE EARLY 1900'S OR OLDER. IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED A FEW TIMES. AS YOU CAN SEE IN MY PICTURES. INSIDE YOU CAN SEE TAPE. THAT COVERS A WHOLE WHERE THE HANDLE BROKE OFF. THE HANDLES WHERE REINSTALLED TO MATCH. ON THE BOTTOM THERE IS A PATCH THAT COVERS THE HOLE IN THE BOTTOM INSIDE. THE LOCK HAS BEEN REMOVED AND REPAIRED. THE TOP HAS A RING WHERE A LAMP SAT ON IT FOR YEARS. I USED A LITTLE DAMP RAG TO WIPE DOWN THE TOP AND YOU COULD BARELY SEE THE RING. THE FINISH ON THE OUTSIDE IS ROUGH. THE INSIDE HAD SOME WHITE MAKE UP POWDER WHICH CLEANED UP WITH A DAMP CLOTH. THIS IS NOT PERFECT, BUT WOULD LOOK GREAT WITH A PIECE OF GLASS ON TOP. This is a beautiful wood steamer trunk from the early 1900s. It measures 21" tall. It is 32 l ing and 19" wide. The trunk has an insert and the hinges are replacements. It is in excellent condition, on inspection it does show vintage wear. The side handles are broken and one of the bottom boards is split and the 2 front casters missing. It shows normal scuffing and bumps as you would expect but no abuse. The trunk is solid and sturdy. It comes from a non smoking and pet free home. It is clean and ready to use. The trunk will be shipped by Greyhound Package Express and it will have to be picked up at the buyers local Greyhound bus depot. Antique Primitive Wood Chest Trunk Casket Sarcophagus Coffin Box Blue Handles
Antique wood box up for auction. Everyone keeps telling me that it is a childs casket. I will let you be the judge of that. I'm going to guess this piece at the early 1900s. The top does resemble a casket. As do the handles. The handles I believe are aluminum that are flaking gold paint. They will stick out when put in that position. The corners have metal brackets. The top has a locking mechanism. The whole thing has the original blue wash type paint that has rubs here and there. There were tools in it and it has an oil stain on the inside. It is nice and sturdy with that real primitive patina. It measures 23 3/4" L x 12 3/4" W x 10 1/2" T. Please e-mail for more pictures or questions.

Wonderful oak& bound iron silver chest measuring 33 1/4" long x 24 1/4" tall x 19 7/8" deep. Tag on inside reads. Edward& Sons"Silversmith's to the King" 99 Buchanon St Glasgow. This chest was used for storage& transportation of a family's silver. Blue lining inside has been partially removed but still remains on the removable shelf. There is something handwritten on the inside of lid in pencil. There is a crack on the top as can be seen in pic#s 6& 7. There is a scratch on the front to the left of the hasp(see 1st picture) There is also a small metal prop piece(kind of like a pin) that the hinge rests on that allows the hinge to be propped by itself which is broke(see last pic) The wood cane holding up the lid is not included. 1900's Antique Yale& Towne Steamer Trunk Chest With Wood Brass-Pick-Up Only. This chest is from the early 1900s and belonged to my Grandmother. It is marked Yale& Towne. Stanford, Connecticut, on the lock plate. Nice condition for its age. There is some wear on the handles, exterior, and interior tray. No key, but very usable since it latches. I believe the latch will lock, but untested due to lack of key. See Photos. Any questions, please write. I am listing this set for pickup only- Save some money because it is very expensive for the buyer to pay for shipping. I am in Lancaster County. PA.
