This trunk hardware and leather handles are from the early 1970s. The patina on the brass is from their age. The leather handles are 9 3/4" long and three ply at 5/16" thick. There are 8 corners. 20 knees, 1 Long lock w/key, 2 large rectangular draw downs, 2 handles, 4 handle clamps, 2 hinges, and 2 lid stays. This is a similar list of hardware and handles used to build the trunk in the second photo(from 1974) thought seeing the finished product with similar hardware would help. TRUNK NOT INCLUDED, this item is the HARDWARE KIT ONLY. I can draw up the plans for that one if it would help a project. I handmade the metal trim from sheet aluminum and cut the bows from 3/4" X 2 1/4" oak that I split and rounded the edges of each half on a table router, pretty easy stuff. Antique England Peerage Brass Slipper Box-Chest/Trunk
Antique brass slipper box made in England by Peerage- still has part of the Peerage sticker on top of lid. 12" H x 17" L x 11.5" W. This is an old piece and does show it's age. Brass is tarnished- needs cleaning. Bottom raised wood pieces that it sits on have split apart on one side(the piece is inside the trunk to be glued on or fixed if you want) making it sit lopsided. Some brass nails are missing from around the edges causing brass to pull away from box. Lid has area on right top where particle board has broken off. All defects have been included in the pictures above. Please look at pictures carefully so there are no surprises. This is still a beautiful old collector's item. Here is a very nice Antique Louis Vuitton steamer trunk. Its the highest end model with all brass hardware and leather trim and a zinc bottom. Interior is clean with 2 trays. This is the very early hand woven linen monogram canvas which was produced from 1896-1904. The serial number 106906 should put it around 1899. I've never seen a metal trunk before and when I examined it more closely I saw the English registry mark on the latch along with double lion imprint. See photos. The trunk has bright blue painted interior(probably not original) Measures 24" length by 17" wide and 16" tall. One side is missing the 2 bottom metal straps and there are 2 holes on the bottom side where the screws would have been in place. 1900's Antique Yale & Towne Steamer Trunk Chest Wood Leather Brass
This is a great antique trunk that at one time was used by Lumpee& Russ Harness Makers; I cannot make out the rest of the wording. The trunk is structurally solid. The valet tray has two holes but this could be nicely refinished. The top tray has two sections with one that does have the leather/button loop closure intact. There is no key in the locking mechanism that was made by Yale Towne MFG out of Stamford. Conn. It weighs just under 55 pounds. This is being sold as is. Antique Hand Hammered Gilt Copper & Brass Clad Wood Chest Trunk Box on Wheels
Wonderful Primitive Antique Hand Hammered Gilt Copper& Brass Clad Wood Chest/Trunk. This is an all original beautiful piece. It is NOT a reproduction. It is sitting on wooden wheels. It has a hinged lid but one of the hinges has come loose from the lid and the piece of wood it was attached to has broken off. The hinge is still attached to the box. The lid still opens and closes fine and this could probably be repaired. There are some places throughout the box where the copper may be slightly bent. Dented, cracked etc. One of the corners has a piece of the trim that is around the edges that has come off but we do have a piece of it that may be reattached. The top of the lid has a spot where one of the nail holes is open and there is some white"sand" or something that they used to keep the 3D scene from caving in inside. Overall ... moremeasurements are 18 1/4" wide side to side, 11 1/2" front to back, and 13" tall. The scene on the front is four men sitting on benches and upside down barrels. One man standing to the side with what looks like a stein in one hand and a woman peeking out the door of the cottage. There is a cat sitting close by observing the men. The has what looks like men and women. One man looks to be helping a woman up off the ground. The scene on one of the sides is two men sitting inside amongst overturned barrels with bottles. Vases, pots etc in the background on a shelf. One is playing a violin or fiddle and the other is sitting next to him. The scene on the other side shows a man sitting in a chair with another man standing over him in front of him. Maybe he's a doctor or dentist? I can't really tell what he is doing. There is another man crouched down to the side as if hiding in the corner. Please take a look at the close up photos for more detail of this wonderful piece. Feel free to email with any questions.

As well as what look like brass corners Leather handles on the sides Dark. Hunter green paint over what seems to be a pressboard or very light wood, possibly pine The chest isn't very heavy for its large size. Which makes it more versatile for you. Would be amazing as a coffee table. End table, blanket chest, hope chest, hallway"tree" bench with storage for shoes or winter clothing. So versatile! Inside has a pastel yellow-ish lime green and white interior You can see the interior is a cover over the wood. Peeled in just a few places, but in very nice shape for its age! The interior also has 2 slats that could hold up a shelf or tray if you'd like to add one. So you'd have 2 layers ... moreof storage No key. AMAZING HANDMADE/ HANDCRAFTED STUNNING GENUINE MAHOGANY LARGE TRUNK/ CHEST WITH INLAID BRASS/ DESIGNS- This piece is absolutely gorgeous. It is approximately 30" wide x 16" tall x 16" deep. There is a latch on the front of this trunk which opens and enables the top to be lifted up. It reveals a large piece of wood inside which is separated into three flat drawers. The entire piece can be lifted out of the trunk and it reveals a large storage area underneath. There are also two drawers on the front of the chest at the bottom which pull out. The workmanship on this piece is unbelievable! It is truly amazing. I do not know the exact time frame when this piece was made. But I am guessing it is a turn of the century piece. There are a couple of flaws/ ... moregouges in the wood on the top piece, but this item is still in excellent condition. Note inside says handmade during childhood. The woman that owned this was born in 1921. Not perfect and has some breaks on base. No straps on sides but has nails where they were. Inside tray and rest of trunk lined with thin muslin. I sell on consignment for others and will always have a nice eclectic mix of items from serious collectors. This chest was made long ago by the inmates of the Maine State Prison in Thomaston. Maine. See the metal tag on the front, below the lid, photo# 3} Although there is and has been, a program for inmates to create crafts and projects that are sold to the public{ now through a retail outlet on Rt. 1 in Thomaston} the particular age characteristics of this piece would suggest it is an early piece that was perhaps used in the industrial program as prison property. A LITTLE HISTORY: In 1824. Only four years after Maine broke off from Massachusetts and became its own state, the state legislature established the Maine State Prison in Thomaston Maine. The original layout of the prison had ... moreunderground cells, literally deep holes into which the prisoners were lowered each night and brought up in the daytime to labor in the stone quarry on the prison property. In 1923 the prison was destroyed by a fire in which many inmates died. The old prison was replaced by a facility with two cellblocks. There were long narrow hallways with very small cells{7' x 6' each} Since its early days the Maine State Prison has had a working industrial program. Inmates have worked the quarry. Constructed wooden wagons, buckboards, wheel barrows, sleighs, buggies and tack for horses. Some select inmates worked on the prison farm growing produce. With the advent of the automobile, the industrial program migrated to constructing furniture and expanded this line in the late 1930's to include crafts and novelty items. The Maine State Prison in Thomaston remained a maximum security facility until it closed in 2002. The prison was demolished in April of the same year. The Prison Farm{Bolduc Correctional Facility} and the new Maine State Prison in Warren, Maine, carry on the tradition of farming and woodworking. Here is a beautifully made Aux Etats Unis traveler trunk sold in Paris late 19th to early 20th century. These trunks were made to compete with the likes of Loius Vuitton. Hermes, etc. starting back in mid 1800s. This example had it's canvas stripped away long ago leaving the wood to age to the present patina. It has all original clasps. Hinges and the lock, but no key. This would have been known as a lady's trunk. Due to it's smaller size. Antique 1900s Steamer Trunk Wardrobe Leather Yellow 42x23" EXCELSIOR Locks Brass
Early Vintage Travelling Storage Wardrobe Steamer Trunk dates back to about 1910. 42" tall X 23" wide and deep. Cured genuine leather stretched over a sold wood frame. Yellow in color with a nice patina. All edges and corners protected by brass plating. There are 6 functioning ball type wheels on the bottom which allows the user to roll the trunk while flat. And an additional 2 functioning wheels allow the user to roll the trunk while standing on end and towing with the leather handle(picture shown) All metal edges do have some wear but this gives the trunk a great look. The locking hardware is functioning. And is stamped EXCELSIOR#4230 Made in Stamford, Conn USA. Excelsior began making this lock in 1910. The locking mechanism is controlled by the exterior latch which in turn stabilizes the drawers for travel(shown in picture) There ... moreis 1 key from the Independent Lock Co#1076 Made in Fitchburg. Mass USA(valued at $18.95 on Ebay) The interior fabric is a copper monochromatic damask which is in good shape considering the age(picture shown) Once settled at their destination. The traveller may lift the padded top portion of the trunk up using the attached hinges to reveal and unlock the hanging garments(see main picture) There are 5 drawers which feature the same copper damask on their fronts. And brown lining within(picture shown) The top drawer is missing the lock, the bottom drawer is missing the handle, and both drawers do have a little water damage. There are 4 original hangers(1 shirt. 1 pant, and 2 coat) These hangers rest upon a chrome bar which extends outward 18" to allow the traveller to peruse their garments and avoid wrinkling. The hanging garments are protected from dust during travel by a copper damask curtain that snaps closed at the bottom. Approximated weight is 85 lbs. The well worn finish has stains and mars for antique character. Waxed and buffed. Only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina. Hand hammered brass mounts and nail head decorations are artistic. There are a few sharp edges on the brass. Inside is a covered compartment for valuables.
