Rare Goyard Trunk Luggage Vintage Early 1900's
You are looking at a very interesting piece of history. Goyard is one of the oldest and most revered trunk builders in modern history. Dimensions- 27.5” Wide. 22” Tall, 18 ½” Deep Condition- As you see in the photos there are some damages to the exterior. In only a few places is it ripped through(the worst of the damages are shown in 2 photos) All in all. The exterior is in 80-85% condition considering its age. The hardware is in working order, locking tight. The side handle hardware is also functional. Inside there is no major damage. Stains or odors. Provenance- The top of the trunk is monogrammed with the name Thomas Powers. Smaller Pre WW11 Trunk With Shelf Intact And Key Rare & Hard To Find
Very very few of these survived with the top shelf intact. This is the only one I have ever seen with the key. To have both of these at once is just an incredible find.This trunk is 21 inches high by 16 inches wide by 29 inches long. The interior shelf is not shown. For some reason the picture of it did not come out, it is the normal standard shelf you see every once in a while in a steamer trunk. It is gorgeous the way it is but could easily be restored with a little varnish and paint since it is all intact. It will ship just like it sets unless you decide you want it boxed up, if it would survive in the hold of a ship it should survive UPS in the same way. After serving as commander of Scott Field from 1933 to 1937, spent the majority of the rest of his career on the staff of the Chief of the Army Air Corps. His last assignment on active duty was as commander of Fairchild Field at Spokane, Washington. He retired in 1944 and passed away in March 1965. Quite interesting historical piece! army air corps, who was one of the first five men to volunteer for flight training when the army introduced it in 1911. Col. Kennedy. Went to Germany in 1922 to observe construction of the dirigible Los Angeles for the United States, and after the attack on Pearl Harbor supervised construction of air corps depots on the west coast. He retired in 1944.

This antique Hartmann Tourobe is still in great condition. However. Like all original Tourobe's from the turn of the century, there are some scuff marks, scratches and such on the exterior. Look closely at the destination it traveled. It was sent from a teacher in Germany to an officer in Brooklyn New York. What a distance! Inside still looks great and has the original hangers. 6 total hangers, four for suits and two for pants, internal straps are complete. The case has two sections divided by the hinges: 4 divided sections for folded clothing and miscellaneous items secured with adjustable fastening fabric straps. a hanging wardrobe on one side which has a cotton twill covered pad to protect the suits. which fastens with two sets of stud buttons holding the clothes in place. 2 of the 3 buttons are functional. Enabling the section to ... morebe covered. The fastener can easily be replaced by going to a hardware or craft store. I did not want to replace the fastener as it would change the piece from it's original state. Coming from the beginning of the century(early teens of the 1900's) made exclusively for Sax 5th Avenue by the Hartmann Luggage Company. Following the days of steamer trunks, businessmen(sorry ladies but this was pre-women revolution) wanted a way to carry their suits and starched shirts on trains and busses. Clean but not"renovated. this trunk looks much as it did the last time it was used, including an engaging detail: We get to read the extent of the first owner's lavish 1920s life-style through her shoe labels, still filled out in pencil on the trunk shoe boxes. The 30 penciled labels in French(detail photo 7) describe a large and expensive catalog of shoes. For example. daytime(new) kid maroon decorated with crocodile. Trunk history since the 1920s is u nknown until the seller bought it in the early 1970s. At that time. Instead of transporting shoes, she used it as an eye-catching, versatile piece of furniture that held bottles of wine, good silver, and serving platters. Most recently, it was a pedestal for a lamp and art work. The vertical trunk measures 44 x 25 x 16 inches. Broken into various compartments: 30 shoe boxes(detail ... morephotos 7 and 8) an open shelf(formerly the space for a large drawer) two nested trays on top, and one large drawer on the bottom(detail photo 9) The signature Louis Vuitton name and source details appear in numerous locations. The locking latch is stamped. 10 Champs Elysees/Paris/Louis Vuitton/ London/ 148 New Bond Street/ Made in France. Also, there are two numbers: One, which is partially scratched through, may be 084295. The other, larger number, clearly stamped, is 054184. On the inside of the top lid are two small labels. The one on the left says, Bought from Sacks Company, Fifth Avenue, New York. The companion label on the right is not readable except for the word"London" and has a section(mysteriously) cut out. All brass hardware is in-tact and in good condition. And so are the leather side handles and most of the leather protecting the edges. Wooden slats, held by decorative brass pins on front and back, clearly took the brunt of rough handling, leaving the printed canvas with relatively few scratches and no tears. This is a very sweet trunk. It is a 1917 Autorobe Trunk Co. Royal Robe model Autorobe trunk. It opens at the top and a half door folds down and the top flips up. On the other side of the half door is a compartment that opens and is help shut by two leather flaps with buttons that clasp shut. On the fourth picture you can see the flap open. That compartment also slides out of the half door. Then you flip the metal bar up and you are able to pull out the wooden clothes hangers. There are also two anchor hangers and a slacks hanger. In the seventh picture you can see some compartments for shoes inside the trunk. There is also another"briefcase" type compartment that comes out as you can see in the nineth picture. That opens up and is divided into two. There is also a fabric bag that you can see in the 11th picture. As you can see the ... moretop has some tape over the lock because we don't have the key so if it shuts it would not be able to be opened back up. With some alterations you could either replace that lock. Or just jam up the locking part of the lock so you can place it inside the trunk again. The exterior could use a good cleaning although the fact that it is not cleaned is what creates its absolutely wonderful patina. It is missing the handle but all buckles and latches are present and they work. It does retain its original makers tag. Few places there are some dings. And some of the fabric has minor discoloration as could be expected for its age, but overall still very good. Don't pass up on this one. It is a very Rare item. For your bidding consideration; a very rare find. This is a Seward Bag and Trunk Company"Sewardrobe" antique trunk which was patented on April 13. 1915. In the interior on the left, you will find all the drawers intact including the tie downs. The top drawer has built in dividers which I am sure was used to separate the owner's"special" items. On the right, you will see the slide out hanger bar equipped with the original wooden hangers. On the bottom, right behind the hanging area, you will find four shoe pockets. This is one BIG Vintage Trunk! It was made by Besbilt Trunk Company In Newark. N.J. USA Trunk No. 83117 It has a plate so if it were ever found you could contact the company and they would get in touch with whomever purchased/lost it. It measures 26" high x 40-1/2" wide x 24" deep. This trunk could be restored or used"as is" with all its character! Would be a great wide screen TV stand. End table or just hanging around for extra storage. I would say someone has added some paint to the outside. But it is rather industrial looking. The leather handles on both ends are missing. Hardware is in good condition. Corners are awesome! Sorry. No key. Hinges are nice and tight. Latches on the front work great. Inside has the usual wear and tear. But a lot of the fabric is intact. Deep royal blue with a striking yellow stripe and black leather accents. The interior is a pale green with white accents, a very stunning pattern by itself. Antique silver tin metal over wood steamer trunk early 1900's unique Rare 1930's
For your consideration is an antique steamer trunk. Dates to approximately 1932. There are stickers on the trunk. Which I did not remove. This is a large trunk, but in pretty good shape for it's age and the number of trips it has taken over the years. I was told that this trunk went from Germany to England and to Scotland and then to the United States. Measures 40" wide, 21" wide and 21" deep. This trunk does show wear, but adds to the history. There is some damage to the inside and made some holes on the underside. This does not effect the look, but would not make a good shipping trunk anymore. I have not been able to find this Louis Vuitton hat box anywhere on the internet. And I have been looking for over 10 years. I am assuming it is quite rare. I am not a collector, but I believe this antique LV belongs in a collector's house or a museum, with other fine LV pieces. I know very little of its history, but what I do know is it came over from Europe with a woman who immigrated here(Through Ellis Island) and ended up in New Mexico. The box is lightweight, and made of a type of hardened leather, that is as hard as plastic, and thin. The noticeable age wear is a 3 inch split in the lid(see picture) with a small hole resulting(looks easily repaired) Also, the bottom is warped, and the leather is a bit wavy. You are bidding on a cool one of a kind unique set of 4 large handmade handpainted stacking double steel storage trunks/chests made in India with 2 having aligarh handles. Beautiful purples. Greens and blues. These are vintage pieces out of the 60's-70's. They also have aluminum fish faux keyhole locks and handles. Dimensions from smallest to largest are: 1) 26 w x 13 1/2 d x 9 h, 2) 29 w x 16 1/2 d x 10 h, 3) 32 w x 20 d x 11 h, 4) 35 w x 23 d x 13 h. Weight is 12, 22, 32, and 42 pounds. We went on Google and found Mendel Drucker Doll Trunks like this. Information provided is that they were from the early 1900s and are quite rare. Size: 13 x 8 x 7 inches. It appears to be wood covered with a fabric designed paper. Inside is a different paper pattern. There is a light weight tray which seems to be cardboard covered with matching paper. There are wood strips on top and inside(holding up the tray) which are attached with metal fasteners. Condition: This old truck shows much wear. It opens and closes properly. The tray is fastened back together at one end with tape. Rare Hartmann Vintage Stateroom Antique Travel Steamer Trunk Wardrobe Chest
Characteristics of Hartmann We are offering for sale an extremely RARE& UNIQUE fine stateroom steamer trunk. Came from an older Central Pennsylvania estate. Trunk has previous owners initials H L B. Exact age and origin unknown but believe to be from the early 1900s. 1877: Hartmann Inc. was founded in Milwaukee. Wisconsin by Bavarian Trunk maker, Joseph S. Hartmann. 1905: Mr. Hartmann had a vision to build"luggage so fine it will stand as a symbol of excellence. Because of his vision. The company grew rapidly and moved to larger facilities in Racine, Wisconsin. This trunk has early Hartmann trademark cloverleaf hardware. Pull out hanger is patented March 1905. This may be the only one is existence. VERY RARE Quality constructed. Trunk interior is fitted with American golden oak and cast brass ornate pulls with drop front hat box ... morearea that can be used as a desk. Exterior is fitted with rose and silver colored cloverleaf hardware(corners are cast iron and the rest of the hardware is nickel plated brass? which I believe the cloverleaf hardware was characteristic of early Hartmann. Canvas appears to have been a deep mahogany that has darkened over the years from the smoke of coal fired trains and ocean liners. Nice shaped edging of wild boar hide(pig skin) and fine brass tacking. The skin from a boar was tougher and thicker than other animals. Pull out hanger is patented March 1905. The latch is marked Everwear TTC3 and Corbin made in USA. Stately Travel Chest Wardrobe Trunk These early trunks are very rare and hard to find and are as good as. A very rare antique Louis Vuitton coffee table sized steamer trunk from the 1920's. It measures 43"x 21 1/2"x 12 1/2" and has the monogram pattern. Matching LV hardware/nails& is 100% original. The interior is in very good condition with no tears in the quilted silk patterned top. Inside is very clean& original. It is missing the tray insert. The original Louis Vuitton paper label is intact and not torn. The serial number is stamped and very clear-189939. Unique orange dyed triangles are in the corners of the top(see photos) Vuitton did this to differentiate similar trunks while the owners were travelling. The trunk has a few scuffs but is in excellent condition. All of the runners are complete and undamaged. Lock stamped with serial number 036566. Here we have a very rare and very old Trunk from Maritz Madler. Leipzig, Germany. Not sure of the date, hard to researce when most info in German, but I would say 1900-1925. This Madler Koffer(suitcase) was top of the line for its day, an equal to Louis Vuitton of France. Size of this old trunk is 26" x 18" x 14 1/2" Made of wood with a canvas cover. Steel tray supports. As you can see from the pictures, not in the best of shape. I think the worst of this is the center of the top has ether been sat on or was the bottom of a heavy stack, and to one corner. Heavy paint loss in places. This is missing the tray and these also had a bag or box that fit inside on the bottom. All hardwear looks to be there, even the straps on the inside. These old trunks make a great accent piece while providing much needed storage for particularly bulky items. This is a Beautiful RARE Antique Square Steamer Trunk in Excellent condition. It still has the original tray insert. That is not the norm. Usually the insert is missing. There are no major tears or gouges. No breaks. There is a stain on the material in the inside upper corner. All of the latches work but one is missing two of the original rivets and is slightly bent. Measures approx. 20" square x 16 1/2" T. The letters have been painted on. that is traditional with trunks of this age) This item does ship.
